This is a (bad) copy of the hand drawn and framed cartoon that was presented to my old Pop on the day of his retirement in 1960, after 40 years service as a Railwayman. It was 'presented' to him by a group of Firemen that had 'served' under him. Hope it raises a smile :)

I just read an older thread regarding this issue and it appears that many do this. Is this the norm? Does it add such a depth of realism that the time spent is well worth it? (And I know what you will say already Woodie ;) :D ) And if so, paint before or after laying track - which is better?

Hey all - have seen a couple of guys discussing layout materials and would be interested to know why the negativity surrounding the use of styrofoam.
