    Tree Armatures From Crepe Myrtle

Crepe mertyles are commonly found in southern California. The old Kalmbach book on Scenery written by Bill McClannahan (sp?) had a section discussing the use of crepe mertyle for winter scenes when all the leaves have fallen. I have used them in the past. By the way, this is the best time of...

The museum is one of the finest I have ever been to. It is easy to spend an entire afternoon there.

    Saturday Again - Hooray

Good morning everyone. You're correct it is Saturday, but I am at the office. Will be heading to London, Brussels and the Hague this week on business--unfortunately that leaves no time for railroading or posting on the Gauge. Have a great week everyone!

    Fascia Boards--What color?

I am in the process of installing fasia boards to my layout. What color do you use? My layout is largely urban with a section of western desert and mountains. The mountains are colored a reddish brown as is typical in many parts of the west.

    Tree gluing problem

Thanks Tyson thanks for the tip. Thank God that I am modelling the western partof the country. If I were modelling the east and had to make a gazillion trees, I'd go nuts. It certainly is not as easy as Woodland Scenics would have you believe. However, the end product does look pretty good.

    Tree gluing problem

Hobby-tac question Last night I started making a large number of Woodland Scenics Pine trees, using Hobby-Tac as the adhesive. How do you clean this stuff off of your hands? Is there some sort of solvent? The instructions on the bottle don't have any warnings or clean up...

    Bramble bushes real cheap

Very nice Bill. I was wondering if it was possible to use another heat source, such as a soldering iron, in place of the torch.

    Spray Bottles

Life is a tradeoff My electric bill last month was ten time yours. But then there is a small hobbyshop within walking distance of my house. How far are you from Atlanta? I usually end up going to Atlanta on business once every couple of years.

    Spray Bottles

Things must be a lot cheaper in Georgia. But then I'll bet your electric bills are a lot lower than ours too.

    rock formation

Looks great as always Shamus. I have never been very good at rock carving. I use rock castings. I use the molds that have stratified rock and partially fill them with hydrocal to make a partial casting of only the part of the mold containing the stratification. The resulting casting...

    Spray Bottles

Whre do you find two quart bottles for $1? Vic: I agree with your methodology. The only difference is that I I use syringes because I have a plentiful supply due to my daughter's medical condition. Things must be a lot cheaper in Georgia because I have not been able to find two quarts of...

    GATS Show, Indianapolis

Vic: Things must be a lot different in the south. I went to the GATS show in Ventura, California which is about an hour and a half up the coast from LA. Not a large show--it was terrible. A friend of mine went to the GATS show in Victorville, a medium sized town in the Mojave desert...
