    2-8-2 Light Mikado

As we were driving home from Missouri this week, we saw this 2-8-2 light Mikado on display in a small park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. It was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May 1927 (builder's #60006), and was originally owned by the Dierks Lumber & Coal Company.

    Branson Scenic Railway

We went to visit my mom in Missouri this past week. While we were there, we took my son to ride Thomas the Tank Engine on the Branson Scenic Railway. Below are some pics! This is Thomas at the station.

How many pictures can I take...

...of the same spot on a layout??? Well, let's see... As this is the only "presentable" side to my West Hill Railroad layout, I have to keep it interesting by adding new things and rearranging the moveable bits. I'll get around to putting in the church and graveyard in the...

    Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0)

Greetings, everyone! I don't get around to posting as much as I used to (I still lurk when I get time). I've been very busy with various projects, but I have started construction on a new layout, the Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0). The CRRy 2.0 is the successor to the original Copper...

    Challenger visits Crockett, TX

I finally got my digital camera back from repair and was able to retrieve the photos I took when my son and I went to see the Challenger as it was returning from the Super Bowl. Here is a link to the gallery... http://web.wt.net/~glasgow/Challenger/index.htm

    Challenger Challenge

Union Pacfic Challenger 3985 is in Houston, TX right now for Superbowl Weekend. It will be travelling back to Cheyenne, WY next week. I plan on trying to see it in Crockett, TX when it stops for service. My challenge is this: If anyone else is on the route, get some pictures of it...

    Small N-scale Layout

I've been tinkering with layout plans on and off for the past several weeks. I have a 2' x 3' sheet of plywood, so I started brainstorming some trackplans that would fit the space. I thought I'd share one of them. I just stuck the track together on the bare plywood--no roadbed or even...

    Things I've learned...

I went to a train show this weekend. One of the things that I learned, was the proper pronunciation of "Kato." (Actually, I heard it on Trains on Tracks on PBS that morning.) I always thought it was pronounced kay-toh. I learned it's kah-toh. This is the result of my being physically...

19th Annual Dallas Area Train Show

We went to the show in Plano yesterday. We had a good time. We never made it to the layout tours...we were too tired! There were a lot of nice club layouts. I took a few pictures, but as always I get to the point where I just want to look rather than have to fool with the camera! These...

Playing with Camera again...pics of engines...

I was playing with the camera again, so I thought I'd share. This is a pic of the new Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 Switcher I got in an Iron Duke train set (half-price sale at Hobby Lobby). This is my first attempt at weathering a locomotive. I don't have an airbrush or chalks, so I attempted to use...

Improving the Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 Switcher

I got one of these in a train set from Hobby Lobby during their 1/2 price sale this week. I knew from the start that it wasn't considered a good engine, but I figured I'd give it a shot and see if I could "improve" it. The one I got has blackened siderods and black boiler handrails, and...

I was playing with the camera...

Here are a few pics I shot on my West Hill RR layout at the office. I was just playing with the camera and wanted to see what a few shots through the forest would look like... Looking down the dirt road into the Void Beyond the Edge of the World. I got new flourescent lights in my...

    Copper Ridge Railway, Mark II

My old computer desk has recently been vacated, so now I have a nice 4' wide by 2' deep table ready-made for a layout. Space is at a premium in my house, and this looks like the best location for a layout at this time. I've been tinkering with a number of variations on the...

    Pics from AMRJ

We went to the Austin Model Railroad Jamboree in Round Rock, TX last week. Overall, I was kinda disappointed--there wasn't a lot of N-scale stuff there. We went on the layout tour, too. Many of the layouts on the tour were Plywood Centrals. Below are some of the high points... This first...

    Playing with Camera...

I was playing with my digital camera at work today, so I thought I'd share... This is my Life-Like F2A crossing the bridge on the West Hill RR in my office. It's pulling a kitbashed Copper Ridge Railway flatcar.

    LC Scale Modelling?

I wonder if they have a name for the scale of Learning Curve wooden engines... Anyway, my son, Bryan, who just started Kindergarten (woohoo! :D) occasionally models scenes from Thomas the Tank Engine. In one story, an engine named Duncan ignores another engine's warning about a bit of bad...

Copper Ridge on the West Hill RR

During my vacation last week, I got the time to sit down and work on my favorite engine and some of my rolling stock. With some paint and decals, I lettered a number of items for the Copper Ridge Railway. Here are some pics of the train on the West Hill RR at my office. This first picture...

Old Coach at Hearne, TX Service Facility

There is a car service facility to the west of Hearne, TX. This old coach was sitting up front. I don't know anything about her... She has LCRX on the side by the door...

    Busy day at Valley Junction

As my wife, son and I were returning home from a trip to Cedar Park/Austin, TX, we saw a freight train carrying gondolas full of gravel heading east on the Austin subdivision of the UPRR. It was heading for Valley Junction, which is just a few miles west of Hearne, TX along U.S. Highway 79.

    Austin Steam Train Association

I'm on vacation, and my family and I went to Cedar Park to visit the church we attended there and visit some of the local hobby shops. Here are some pictures I took of the coaches of the Austin Steam Train. More info can be found at the Austin Steam Train Association website. There is a...
