RC Boats

Remote control boats or RC boats have a wide range of types and designs. One of the popular kinds of RC boats right now is the ready-to-run boats which usually already have the radio system installed. Its engines are also pre-installed but there are varied performance levels you can expect from different models of RC boats. Ready-to-run boats also have several advantages when compared to other types of RC boats because it is easier to maintain and is more user-friendly than previous models.

One thing you should look for in a RC boat is its hull style because this will determine whether your boat will be easy to handle or not. You will also be able to estimate the top speed that your boat will be able to sail including the limits of your boat. But nature also plays a huge role in determining which hull design you should choose, for example, if you live in an area that encounters high tide on a regular basis then choose a hull design that is suitable for that particular water condition. One of the most popular hull type RC boats is the deep V-hull design which can maintain a high speed on rough waters. This model is also able to adapt to different water conditions so people who are fond of RC boats includes this type on their list of must-haves. On the other hand, shallow v-hull design boat suits boating in stable water better.

Another type of RC boat design is the hydroplanes. This type of design is very much different from the V-hull designs because it can lift the boat through the use of sponsons. This enables the boat can glide easily over the water at top speeds. This type of design has several categories namely catamarans and outriggers. Catamarans are capable of handling the toughest water condition which maintaining a straight line speed. Also, it can also handle turns when you maneuver the boat comfortably. Meanwhile, the outrigger would require a more stable water condition but this is also the fastest RC boat in the hull style category.

If you are searching for a RC boat then you should also consider its power source. Boats that are run through electricity are the best choice for beginners. The reason for this is because electric boats are easier to maintain because it does not require periodical cleaning like nitro boats. Electric boats are also generally more reliable. Another source of power for RC boats is the nitro fuel. These types of boats offer a better performance when compared to the electric type so this type of power source is preferred by more experienced boaters. Nitro boats usually need to have a glow driver and a pull-starter to ignite the power. This type of power source is more expensive but it can deliver the performance that boaters are looking for. Meanwhile, gas 2-cycle boats are more expensive but the fuel it consumes costs less than nitro boats.
