RC Airplanes
Boys generally pass through a phase where they find comfort and entertainment
building their airplanes and ships using model kits. They have now taken it a
step further and introduced remote-controlled airplanes that they’ve either
built from scratch or from a store-bought model kit. It’s a kid’s dream brought
to life in very real, to-scale replicas of their favorite airplanes. You can
just imagine putting your own plane together, fiddling with the motor, the
design and the assembly and getting to try it out in the enjoyable outdoors.
The most popular RC airplane models are electric-powered and come in either
“Ready to Fly” (RTF) or Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) models. They are very handy
for beginners because it takes less time to set up especially if you have no
modeling experience whatsoever. Building something as intricate as an RC plane
by yourself can be quite tricky and frustrating and might take the fun out of
the whole experience. They usually come with everything that you need to fly the
plane although you may need to assemble the wing, tail and propeller. They also
include the radio system that controls your plane.
Another advantage to an RTF RC airplane is that its spare parts, when needed,
are easily available because they come in a standard form and package. Simply
bring in your original box or mention the model of your plane and spare parts
are handed to you in a snap. This will be a big help especially if you’re only
starting out with this hobby. It is expected that you’ll be doing a lot of
crashing as you get used to flying your plane. However, if you’re interested,
there are also training planes that are designed to prevent or at least minimize
crashes.
Compared to its ancestors, the convenience of electricity has minimized the bulk
and noise of gas-powered planes which makes it possible for your
electric-powered RC planes to be flown over parks and other open public places
without disturbing the peace and solitude of other people. You do however need
to take precautions in case your plane malfunctions.
And because boys will be boys no matter what age they are, these RC planes
provide you with entertainment even as you grow older. The more practice that
you get in building and flying your planes, the more that you will desire
complex and challenging RC plane designs. This flexibility and adaptability is
what makes RC airplanes so attractive.
Granted that you’ll be spending a fair amount of money to support this hobby, as
you’ll be continuously customizing your planes, the camaraderie that you’ll
experience from fellow enthusiasts and hobbyists that you meet on exhibitions,
tournaments and friendly gatherings, will be something that you’ll take with you
forever.
