With this paper are easily corrected terrible disease of offset printing: raster, which spoils the impression of most any "stuffed" by details and flawless models and eternal "curse" of publishing - diffrent tincture of the same color.
Foresee objections. Colored paper can be used not for any models. I agree, it is necessary to select the appropriate prototype. But it has a distinct advantage because dyed throughout the volume. So have appeared the idea of applying advanced technologies to the modeling of sailing ships in general and the French longboat - in particular.
The boat is fully made of colored paper. Tint only the ends of the frames, which are made of beer cardboard. All parts are cut from a 0.3 mm thick paper and, if necessary, the paper thickness is brought to the desired .
For example, the keel with stem and stern are composed of two layers of cardboard and colored paper puted on the outside . Total thickness is 3 mm. Body skin consists two layers of colored paper : outer is paper yellow ocher , thickness 0.3 mm, inner is paper red ocher, the exact same thickness. In sum, - 0,6 mm. On a scale of 1:48, we obtain a prototype board thickness of nearly 30 mm. Looks like it.
In short, the first step is done. And this is only the beginning. As often happens, new technologies have resulted in a huge number of promising ideas. Add to this shipbuilding software which allows precise cutting of parts and you will realize that a new chapter in the paper modeling take a start. History again turn face to the colored paper which appeared with new qualities and features of a new space age technology .
