I laid the rest of track which continues into the trainshed. I need to decide if at this early time were their platforms in the trainshed. I never found any information anywhere on what was done inside the trainshed. Maybe it is a good guess that there were no platforms at this time. I do feel certain that there was wood flooring and not just dirt. With the track in place and no walls built to hinder my installation of flooring between the tracks. I'll see what tomorrow will bring.

I drew the trainshed track entrances

The door is nice and I modeled it after the Kerbi roundhouse doors, but I want more of a arc to the top. Also I don't like the appearance of the 18' high doors being so close to the horizontal trim piece. The wall in the drawing is 20' high. When I make this wall it will be more like 24 or 25 feet high. This will give me a look very much like the other two buildings.

Now concerning Platforms in this depot. I know nothing of the depots inside conveniences. So I can't do anything for platforms. I do know about the second terminal of 1857 having platforms. In a 1961 lithograph it is obvious that there are platforms there there, for the soldiers drawn on it are standing next to a car and looking right in the middle of a car window. So I will not be making platforms for the terminal.

Here is the board I will build the first Depot on. You can see that there is 30" of trach on each of the three interior depot tracks.

That is a nice shot. Have you tried converting photos to Black and White? That too imparts an old time look to pics. Might like to see a side by side of this photo and the original lithograph. Might be fun to also display the Litho. at the upcoming show.

Keep up the good work!!!:Bravo:

Tom, John, Thanks for keeping me going. i'll be trying to convert the photos to black and white. That will be the last thing i do before I can say I'm done.
* I finally got the front of the red building looking almost as i want it. It is close. Also need to pop out the windows one more time and paint all the rest Pewter Gray. After that the trin around the top edge of the building all the way around the building needs the gray paint. I need to make stone block trim going around the large front double door and the rear smaller double door. That will put this building on hold till the Depot is built. That is a nice size station with a big trainshed attached.
** Here is the red building with Gray trim.

Hey guys , it also shows how warped the piece of wood i chose to build it on is. I bought that plywood brand new at lowe's just for this purpose. A 4x8 that was cut in 2 4x4's at the store. I left the attic window open one humid night that it didn't rain and wala found a part of the locomotive 2 story section poped free of the board. just couldn't straighten it out. That really was some junk plywood sold to me by lowe's. I have a couple of older pieces of ply that are of dimensions that made them not proper for this project that are thinner and 30 years older, or more. They have been in my basement all that time and still dead straight. i am afraid to attempt removing the roundhouse, locomotive shop and machine shop from the board section because it will break. Imagine the repairs I would have to do. And that complicated trackwork to the turntable would have to be redone. I could separate that locomotive roundhouse and shops building from the bad plywood board but I could never get it done in time for Nov 2 train show. That is another project for after this project is done if i want to keep this dorama. The main reason of importance to the show as others is that it is hosted by the New York Society of Model Engineers. That is probably the oldest model club in the world. and i am lucky enough to have a couple of friends that are members.

You could always square the plywood by making trusses/framing, under the wood, and screwing through the plywood to flatten it out. The quality of wood is really bad these days. :)

......or consider bringing ground cover up to the edges of the building and masking the gaposis. Fortunately the real world is not entirely flat and there are undulations in all scenes.

Doc, yes I am. I hope to get my sons help with that. The car manufactory building (the red one) I finished today so the first board can now get some ground foal applied.
Here is the completed building less clear window plastic, interior, and other details.

*Thanks John. I.ve done some work on the Train-shed track work. Just done a few minutes ago, you can see the trach ties are surrounded by wood painted black. The two spaces between the three tracks has evergreen products plastic decking painted brown, and the two outside the track spaces with the area between tracks and headhouse just painted brown.
