The Fifa World Cup?

I thought it a nice idea if we can discuss the games, etc, and share any jokes (clean of course) that we come across :) Let's keep it clean and not offend the multinational audience that this forum serves :)

My contribution;

Natural Disaster hits Panama!
They got hit by a HarryKane!

I'm watching every game if possible. Some are shown during my work shifts so I have to skip these parts. However, luckyly we keep at least one TV running at work so I'm always pretty well informed. ;)

My thoughts so far:

Damn it, what happened to Russia today after such a great start! How was this even possible? Did the Russian bear not get enough honey? Conspiracy theories are spawning... And no, this time it was NOT the Russians..! :D ;)

Germany is rather stumbling through the matches. I'm curious to know how long we will attend the Games...

Ronaldo seems to become the goal champion - again. Great player - and great "actor" (he knows how to show his emotions to the crowd :D ;) ).

Belgium and England have turned into magicians. Superb spectacles!

However, there are two negative things. I don't remember seeing so much blood on the field before. Some scenes really hurt from watching. AND:

I miss the Netherlands and Italy...

@DanBKing , what's going on in the neighbourhood? Are the games watched in NL at all? Are you ( = the NL) cheering more for Belgium or (ahem) "us"..? ;)

:)

Like all sport, I have played them, but never enjoyed watching. I like playing Soccer quite a bit. The only thing I can watch is sailboat racing, which would probably boar most people to death. That Fifa Trophy is really fantastic!! :):)

Funny enough, the trophy was what got me into paper modelling! We had to decorate our areas for specific teams at work back in 2010 (when SA hosted). We drew Germany and I got it into my head to display 3 trophies. Wasn't going to go & buy replicas & found this template. Hooked there after!

For me; the heart says England, the head is going with Belgium or Germany.

I do like the International flavor of soccer. It is something that is not seen in U.S. sports. America is somewhat quite a large country, going to many parts is like going to another country, but we are separated by the same language. Much like the 2.5 months I spent in Manchester, England. Everyone spoke English, I spoke American. I also speak Spanish, but meeting a few people from Spain, was just as different is English is to American. I have been to Louisiana, and that is so different than was is spoken in New England, actually, most of America , at least those I have visited, say I have an accent. What a world. :)

Too bad that the championships are not held in Germany. If they had been we wouldn't have to leave anywhere! :D

Major kudos to South Korea. They fought well. :Bravo::Bravo::Bravo:

A deserved win and an even more deserved loss. You can't imagine what's going on here. In Germany soccer is seen as the national sport. Seeing "our" team lose broke many hearts. One of the big newspapers showed a headline on page 1: "Ohne Worte." ("No words required.")

The team around Jogi Löw wrote history by winning their fourth star and now they wrote history again - from the other way round: This is the first time Germany has to leave the games before the round of lasts! That's hard to digest, guys! :ass-kicking:

What a difference a picture makes..! :hammerhead::hammerhead::hammerhead:

I'm looking forward to seeing England Vs. Belgium. I don't count on seeing many goals because both teams are superb, I would say, even of equal strength. 2:1 my tip. Not sure for whom but I have a slight tendency towards England . :)

Bummer.
Ok, we lost.....
Looking at the chances Belgium had, ..... we could have lost a lot worse.

Both teams are through anyway......

Let's see what happens ..........
