I remember the episodes. I see what you mean. I don't say the old design was bad but it was different. It was a product of its time, like the cardboard and illumined "draping walls" of 1979's "Buck Rogers" that would move at the slightest breeze of air. ;) The digital work done for the BluRay release really made TOS shine. I was completely blown away seeing all these new opticals which seamlessly blended in the old footage. :)

I have to agree with "The DC" here. Star Wars, with al the "works" on the outside, is the most unrealistic way to make a fighting ship. If you look at what is used now, everything is inside and accessible, especially on submarines, which is the inverse of space travel, you can't go outside and fix anything. Which makes submarine models kind of boring to build. The new series, "The Expanse" seems to be based on the development of Earth's present technology taken into the future, as it does not take place so far into the future as most other shows. The ships sed in this series are a modelers dream, and have the proper greebling. I'm surprised no one has tackled them. The lack of any gravity in the ships, except the ones that rotate, also makes for a very interesting show. It is so well written, to see birds flying in low gravity situations was outstanding. It also has a plot line that far surpasses anything any franchise has come up with since I don't know when. I don't know if anyone else is watching this but this is real science fiction. The potential for these models is great. The story line excellent. There's just no way of telling which way it's going, who's the good or bad guys, maybe there even aren't any, and the "Protomolecule" has literally changed the evolution of mankind.

Then, there's "The Protomolecule"!! :)

I highly recommend looking up "The Expanse" on YouTube. It is one of the most promising shows in decades. :)
