Spaceagent,

I'm not sure what you're referring to? Are links to existing sites on you tube not allowed? Is that what you're referring to?

Lost in translation.

well I have an idea for a racer, im pretty sure I read that there were deadlines and requirements to be fulfilled, also that you had to have it painted a certain way and that it needed a nomenclature.

Yeah , I am thinking of a post that had the basic rules for entering a ship into the astro racers, I think there was a cut off date too, please.

Spaceagent,

I think this is the link that you are referring to.

I don't think that there is any cut off date although if you wanted to enter in the Aliens papercraft cup we're too late for that one.

Of course you could always send something to Alien 99 / Jan Rukr. Keep in mind that his native tongue is Czech!

I don't know, sounds like a good idea, maybe even a dedicated sub-section?

I think that there might be a review prototype for Jan to look at and pass and grab for his site , or for accepted racers to critic'?
It might make the entire prospect something to get enthusiastic about and maybe have a race every few months?
Some kind of dice roll every day until the race is finished.
A picture of the built model for monthly winner?
Here is what I got so far. please suggest corrections on what to change to send off to Jan, please.

Beta build time? It's the only way to be sure it works!

Which four new ships are available now?
I have:
Rea Liner
Orca
Beam Catcher
Ion Rafinery
Next Liner
Solar Explorer
Opalia
Neucom

all of which were available months ago. There was a bit of a process to go through to get those eight. Are there four more somewhere now?:)

It's something I missed too. I was extensively into building and riding motorcycles at that time.. That whole era seems to have blown me. Some of the best cars I have owned come from 1998. My current 1998 Ford Taurus (all white, stock Chrome optional factory spoke wheels), Tan Glove Leather Interior, 24valve dual overhead cam V-6engine is in excellent condition. I did 135 mph in that car down in North Carolina!!! It's gets 29.5 miles per gallon (averaged on a recent 2000 mile trip). I baby this car. My personal luxurious Astro Racer. :)

It is a name Jan Rükr came up with for the set of models that can be attached to each other to make one whole model. If you go to the site link and translate the text in the yellow box it tells a story about the Robinson complex.

Question.
Was is this Robinson? Tv show? Movie?
I searched the Wikipedia and found nothing.

Yes, this is an original idea from the master paper designer Alien 99 / Jan Rukr. The "new" four I was referring to are Next Liner, Solar Explorer, Opalia, and the Neucom. For a while there these last four were not available until recently.

If you think that this is great you should see his model of the Sulaco. 3 different versions each almost 120 paper sheets each. Now that is a project!!

I use google translate to get the gist of what's going on. Neat story with paper models that use magnets to join the individual ships up. Looking forward to the build.

THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME!!! I was completely blown away by it when I first saw them two days ago.

I can imagine a re-textured version to build a more menacing class of battle ship (without the advertising markings and the bright colours). That could be the star of an anime. :)

GREAT WORK, @Alien99 !!! :)

1st ship - Rea Liner

Just finished the Rea Liner this past (minus the little ships that dock to it). Here are the pics:
Here are the cut out pieces.
upload_2017-10-23_11-11-47.jpeg

Piece 1 sides assembled
upload_2017-10-23_11-12-17.jpeg

Installing the first magnet - make sure that the magnets can attract well through the paper. Some magnets are pretty wimpy. Roll tape magnets are not so great for this model.
upload_2017-10-23_11-12-46.jpeg

Use another magnet to line up the position where you want them. Also, be sure to check the orientation of the magnet. You don't want the other piece you're going to attach to go somewhere else!
upload_2017-10-23_11-13-55.jpeg

Note also that as you apply the magnets you can mark where they belong before you glue them in place. Elmer's glue works fine for this (all Hail the Mighty Elmer's). The big magnet below the small magnet came with adhesive on one side. However, these big magnets aren't quite as strong as the smaller magnets.
upload_2017-10-23_11-18-33.jpeg

If you are getting magnets for this project don't bother getting the the big rolled tape magnets (shown at the top). They aren't that strong:robot3:. The magnets in the lower right are the big magnets that don't attract too well.:headbange::hammerhead: I suspect that this is due to how they are cut from the sheet and how they are stored. They are easy to install due to the adhesive backing. However, they are also harder to line up correctly because of the adhesive backing.:( The magnets to the left are quite strong and work well.:animated: If you see magnets stored like this in series big or small get them!:) They work quite well. thumbsup
upload_2017-10-23_11-46-20.jpeg

Applying the magnet onto a nacelle. Note the "3" on the nacelle. This is where the little fighter planes attach.
upload_2017-10-23_11-52-0.jpeg

All pieces assembled and ready to be attached together.
upload_2017-10-23_11-53-7.jpeg

Two mini wings attached to the main body.
upload_2017-10-23_11-53-50.jpeg

upload_2017-10-23_11-54-24.jpeg

Front landing skid attached ot the main body.
upload_2017-10-23_11-54-35.jpeg

That's it for now.
