Great work. This differences between miniature and 1:1 set piece are very common in any moovie. Drives me crazy :).

LEFT SIDE STAIRWAY
I´ve enlarged the hole for it and modeling it the same way as the rear leg....in the closed pose.

drop-progress-149.jpg

The stairs look telescopic in the movie 1:1 model, but we have a papermodel , so I decided to construct the turning point for the last two steps of the stairway.

drop-progress-150.jpg

the whole mechanism.....pistons were a real pain...(again :)

drop-progress-151.jpg

stairway in opened pose. Notice the pink pipe. It is my papermodel addon for closing both the profiles. There is no such thing in the movie. If you wan to model such a thing
there will be more suitable some sort of rail road in the leading profile (like the rollercoaster wheels)

drop-progress-152.jpg

Movie shot :)

and..the dropship so far....enjoy :)

Enjoyed! Now let's have some fun! :D ;)

This is brilliant work. BTW, UHU02 is working on a 1/12th Millennium Falcon cockpit and has met a similar problem with the back door. When you open it as seen in the movie the bottom right corner sticks out of the ship. :)

Do what works best on the overall appearance. I believe that would be the set models. If they don't work with the model you're making, then go back to the miniature, or use your artistic license, as it has not been well defined. Anyone dumb enough to pick at your work will soon realize their lack of understanding, and such persons need not be addressed anyways. Your model looks beyond fantastic to me. :)

Personally, I think that this is going to be an epic build. I am looking forward to both the alpha build as well as building this model myself! @Alien99 Keep up the great work!!!

after some break we are her with some update :)
..I´ve optimalized the front of the pod. There are lots of reference photos about the shape and look. My creation is some sort of mix of all of them :)

drop-progress-154.jpg

another four holes of rocket launcher?

drop-progress-155.jpg

rear of the pod - booster rockets exhaust

The rockets:
There were lots of reference materials also, but when i first saw real rockets for 1:1 dropship instalation, I decided to make closest look possible.
Prop model rockets are lil bit simplified...have a look
drop-progress-156.jpg

and finally the rocket pod full of upgraded stuff :)
drop-progress-157.jpg

have a nice day....

Going back to that "Railing". It's perpendicular with the platform, and sits on top of it. It would not interfere with the lifting of the platform, as it is flush with the back end.. There are similar railings on some of the helicopters I've worked on, and you think they will hit, but fit in perfectly. I think if you put it in after you build, raise and lower the platform, it will locate itself. My 2 cents worth. Maybe 1 cents worth. ;)

Filling front rocket pods :)

drop-progress-158.jpg

I´ve created the front pods armament. Some sort of inteligent bombs, collared rocket and old known rocket launcher.

drop-progress-159.jpg

according to movie...two ships, different group of rockets:
left side

drop-progress-160.jpg

right side

from now on the dropship is "fully loaded"

If this was never made, The Renders themselves would show Artwork in the 3D models that are behind him. This is amazing. Your source material, and how you get it is quite amazing also. fantastic!!

I wish we could ad a "Envy" next to the like button, "Envy", in the good way. Maybe, an "I wish I could do that" button. ;)
