Looks good tom, on the landing, it is temporary track for sure! that track is only going to last as long as there are trees within skidding distance of that loader, and thus as temporary as it gets. Love the look of the ties in the dirt. I think the track would look better with longer ties. but the Peco stuff looks good enough otherwise to make that compromise, considering how nice that stuff is to work with. I need to show you what San Juan Car Co.'s On3 track looks like. it is the best flex track I have seen in any scale. is joined down the middle , with thin triangles, so there is no connection between the ties under the rail on either side. beautiful stuff. Looks really good. made some progress over my break, but am jealous of your progress.

from the literature I have read, ties were created primarily with broad axes, and foot adzes . the Froe was mainly use with a mallet to split shingles, and draw knives were used mainly for much finer work Love the natural materials!

Oh Lord, can I come to your home and play with you and your trains!!!! Awesome!! I now longer pick my Autumnal coverings, I mow them back into the lawn, and my lawn loves it. I have to make a lot of passes to get it fine but better than putting into my compost heap, which is now 70 feet long, 3 feet high, and 8 feet wide. I have Earthworms in their the size of snakes!! :)

Thanks. Sure head on over to the hills and we can move some toothpicks. Interestingly some of the fine branching tree armatures come from roots dug out of my compost heap. The all natural materials make the best scenery materials. Tom

Looks great. Do you have one of those camera mounts? I bet a Point of View movie of your set up would be just awesome!! I hooked a small movie to my motorcycle Helmet and filmed my trip to my son's school picking him up on my motorcycle. I looked like I was going 200 mph, when reality I maxed out at around 40 mph. ;)

That is really nice looking. I love the look of our woods in the winter.

As a rule I'm not real fond of the photo backdrops, they can have such great detail that they pull the eye from the foreground to the background, but they do give a very finished and clean look to a layout. But I know that being a painter really frees me up in that area, and most folks have not wasted as much time learning painting as I have, and don't have that easy option.

If it is printed on vinyl, then it may be somewhat more carefree than photo paper. I used to worry about the photo courthouse in Old Harlow a lot.

Found a tool you might find useful.

I got this in the plumbing section of a Lowe's . It is designed for cutting PVC pipe. Jennifer took Tuesday and Thursday off, and she is usually off on Wedensday and Friday, so we are out at the lake, at least until the reminants of the tropical storm roll in. I was replacing an outdoor faucet, whose threads were buggered up so a garden hose could not be attached to it. After using it on pipe, I experimented with using it on an old dead hickory branch. In the photo.

The blade is sharp, and sharpenable. The jaws open to an inch and a quarter , and the blade passes into a slot on the back side, so the material might dull the blade, but the tool won't. The jaw is ratcheted , so it will cut stuff you'd have no chance of cutting with a 1:1 pruner.

When I get home, I'm going to buy one for my train tools. It would be invaluable for cutting log loads or pieces for log cribbing. As I walk up the long and steep trail from the dock, I have been picking up limbs with good O scale bark detail. All of my O scale projects are a ways out, so I have a supply of them for you from Eagle's Nest.

Looks like photobucket is no longer free. Some are saying it will be $400 a year to get pics back on forums. Hope you other guys haven't been hit. I had never exceeded storage limits with careful deletes of unused photos.

GOOD BYE PHOTOBUCKET!!!

Overnight PhotoBucket had become ransomware. The Good Ole Boys on the Kentucky Tooth Pick Line decided it was time for some country justice.

So its good riddance to the bucket.

It sucks for many people. One of the best things of this forum is the ability to upload large photos, and many of them. They can't get lost of held up for ransomware. ;)

It was painful deleting all those posts. Losing those pictures also was a great loss. Feel free to post whatever you wish to bring back some of the memories. ;)
