    22 gauge wire

Not sure if you can use 2 separate strands for dcc if they aren't twisted properly you may have an issue w/ cross talk, this is why telephone wire is twisted (you may have seen UTP for unshielded twisted pair) the frequency of the twists affects how the cables handle cross talk. My suggestion...

    22 gauge wire

Coming from a not so seasoned modeler, i've had much better luck w/ the solid stuff. It's much eaiser to solder, it holds a little better and i've had more luck with it not breaking. You can also use the little taps that don't require soldering. Oh and you can also pick up Ethernet cables...

    22 gauge wire

I've gotten solid wire at homedepot, and my local hardware store (true value and do it best), however i'd suggest you try and find a local irrigation company (anyone that installs underground sprinkler systems) these guys have miles of remnant solid copper wire that they will usually give you a...

    Using Computer Power Supplies

I'd actually be interested in seeing some photo's and maybe a quick (2 sentences) of how you did it. Right now i'm using the toy train transformers to run my switches and lights and i'm not so sure that is the best idea. I have to have multples in parallel to get the amperage i need.

Help w/ Steel track !!!! RAssafrasign ()*^in sa

Just for the record i tried the ink eraser method too and it wasn't very good for my track. It leaves small but noticable scratches in the surface that in turn pick up dirt more quickly making it a chore and a half because now you not only have to clean the track but you have to polish it too...

    Steam train 136mph!?

Seriously guys/gals I'm amazed!!! I knew steam was capable, but not THAT capable, heck even 90+mph sustained is a feat. I mean think about it in the 20's cars were having trouble going 60 to 70!! Makes me look twice at the steam era, maybe there is room in the house for a small steam layout sign1

    Steam train 136mph!?

I was watching Modern Marvels about bullet trains on the History Channel today and got a neat fact that in 1930 a steam train hit 136mph!! I never knew steam could get moving so fast! especially back then. Anyone know what the trian was called or details surrounding it? They didn't provide much...

Just bought 3rd PlanIt Software and...

Seems like a high price for windows xp, vista costs as much. I'd do a little more shopping around for a copy of windows xp. Quick google search turned this up: http://www.buycheapsoftware.com/details~productID~1717.asp

    Anyone have this happen before?

There was a big hubbub on YouTube about this issue, and YouTube decided to keep the copyright but PAY the person who created the content per click, Webshots (at least when i used it years ago) held the copyright to your images, kodak photo gallery also has some weird rules on images you upload...

    Anyone have this happen before?

Seems like a similar issue going on w/ music, but I hold a different opinion. See when you post an image on flikr or one of those photo sites like Kodak etc, you CEASE being the copyright holder, read their fine print. Once you post your content on their site it's theirs w/ no buyer remorse so...

    soldering joints part II
