    radioactive waste prototype

I do not know how the large cars react on a layout, my small layout is gone, needed the room, and only have 3' test track. The cars are heavy for their size without a load. The bodies have a large amount of lead in the resin, the small blue dots can be seen in the bodies of the schnabel and...

    radioactive waste prototype

There was an article in Mainline Modeler five or more years ago on the AMTX cars that caught my interest. These cars look like upside down hoppers, so in the even of a derailment the cars will ride up on each other instead of breaking open. I have started a drawing of this car and it is on my...

    radioactive waste prototype

Sante Fe Jack: I spent some time looking at you photo today, and I have a question about it, which shows the cask being lifted off the eight axle depressed flat. The cask that is being lifted, does not have the "cooling fins" like the one behind it. Was this a different type of cask, or were...

Thanks everyone for the comments! Got some more done this week. I am still not happy with the center diagonals, may rework them. Next step is the center hydraulic lifts. I pulled out my airbrush, been in the box for over 7 years! Have a lot to learn, but started.

Prisons and other punishment/ injunction institutions in H0?

If you find the model that you want to use, Southern served a prision in Atlanta in the 1960's. The prision had their own trackmobile. There were over 150 carloads per year of inbound traffic. Below is a photo of the Sally port The above photo is from a article in Southern Railway Ties...

I would like to thank everyone for thier suggestions. Josh pointed me to a thread that Jim posted about using a wheel based paper cutter. I bought one of these for one of the kids project last year, and just used it. I sliced through 0.040 like it was butter. Thanks again!!
