Awesome! Keep going! You have saved me from wanting to do it myself and then hating myself for not getting around to it... or worse... getting to it, doing a poor job because it's rushed, and then not doing other models I started. Please... more.

Hi Gang - it's been a while. Been busy with writing and teaching. Finally started on real skinning of the model.

I did that very thing on a few of my other models, most notably the Work Horse line of spaceships and the Taiwan Space Command models I did for E-Cardmodels. Unfortunately, I want this model to have the old 60's Trek look with minimal panels and a clean sheen look. the lines are going to be...

All taken in good faith and assuming the best of itentions... all good. I wouldn't post my work in progress if I was offended by other's opinions. I take them as learning, either mine or theirs.

That's a cool idea, but I think you are correct that it might not be best for so small of a part. But it is a technique I will use elsewhere. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind offer, but I have no trouble converting it to cone sections. I just need to find time to add the art/skin detail... and make a new build.

And here is the alpha build. I did it quick and dirty. After almost 4 years of no designing or building I realized something... I HATE domes (as in the warp engine Bussard Collector). I may redo it as layered ring sections rather than tapered flaps. Now on to textures and a real (careful)...

The page work is done in Illustrator... tabs and folds seem all good... now on to the test build... someday. Hopeful it will be test built before Christmas. Five pages with exploded view for instructions. The parts and the exploded view will be numbered. Then I will skin that mule. -The Haggard

Preliminary unfolding is complete. But, my not get more work done on it for a week or two.

I am not sure when I will get back to it again, but at least I am working on it now. I have made this exploded view for the instructions.... and I have done 90% of the unfolding. So... perhaps 1/3 finished toward released model.

I have gotten swamped with work and study. Haven't touched this in three weeks. Hope to get back to it soon.

Almost time to unfold... then add real skins.

Did some engineering section detailing tonight. The colors will be more subdued on the final model. Will print out as a flat piece of art with the optional parts to built up as raised panels if the builder wishes. This will also be the only part with fine detail, keeping the rest of the model...
