    1964 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk.

Terrific work! I think your style really complements the subject matter (1950's vehicles) really well. Your models remind of a certain style of drawing from that period -- I guess what Zathros calls "cubism."

    How to Prevent Fading?

I guess sometimes when it comes to building models, we think that we're building the Pyramids of Giza and expect them to last forever. I agree with you -- the materials should serve the model, not the other way around.

    Intimidation

There's no such thing as "failure" here -- just not getting the results you want. This is a hobby...it's supposed to be fun. This is neither a test nor the Spanish Inquisition. If you go to the 1/144 DC-3 thread, you can see a test build I've done of the cockpit. Is it up to the standards I've...

    How to Prevent Fading?

How DARE you answer my question with actual information! I was expecting something about "pixie dust." Does paper make a difference as well -- i.e. archival paper vs. cheap copy paper?

    How to Prevent Fading?

One of the drawbacks with Inkjet printing, is that the colors eventually fade. Are there any techniques or processes to prevent fading?

A Tu-114 paper or plastic model?

In terms of plastic, Braz models offers resin conversion kits to adapt the Trumpeter TU-95 into different versions of the TU-114 http://www.brazmodels.com/Tupolev/Tu-114/TU114kitphoto.htm

    Intimidation

I get the intimidation thing...it's easy for me to get intimidated because I can be a perfectionist and want things perfect the first time. But ultimately, I'm only hurting myself and denying myself something I would enjoy. "Perfection is the voice of the enemy"

    1:144 Scale DC-3

The insane part of me has thought about an interior. I'm trying not to listen to him jabbering away.

    1:144 Scale DC-3

Right now I'm just experimenting, so I will be trying it again until I start getting a result that I'm happy with. Just a couple of questions for clarification -- What's liquid hardener? Are you recommending I coat the edges of the paper and not the coat the top? In regards to laminating the...

    1:144 Scale DC-3

So I did some experiments last week building the cockpit out of paper. A couple of observations -- 1) The macro setting on my camera is REALLY unforgiving. 2) Unlike the heavier card stock I had previously tried (sorry I don't know the thickness), I was able to actually bend the parts...

    1:144 Scale DC-3

Didn't have time to print the Bob's Card Model today, so I played around some more with the FG model. It occurred to me that at 1/144 scale that cardstock might be too stiff and inflexible for a model with a lot of curves like the DC-3. Would it make sense to try using normal copy paper? Any...

    What about seams?

One thing I've noticed in pictures of completed card models are the seams where the paper has been glued together -- such as aircraft noses or the sides of ship models. Are there any techniques for minimizing or disappering those seams? One of the advantages of plastic models, is that it's...

    1:144 Scale DC-3

I understand -- I wasn't complaining. I just didn't know if he knew. I'm grateful for folks like Bob who do such great work for the rest of us to benefit from. Now back to the DC-3....
