    Extracting dimensional data from pdfs?

What I really need to be able to do is find the lengths of the arc segments. I could do it all with a caliper and some math, along with a little guess work. But then if there are any printing errors they will creep into the answer. And they will always compound. Errors never seem to cancel each...

    Extracting dimensional data from pdfs?

I'm asking the same question over Papermodelers too. Basically I need to find out the heights and diameters of a series of truncated cones (the engine bells for the 1/48th Saturn V) so I can make special tools for repeatable results when assembling.

    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

The link has the thread at Kartonbau that I started when doing the Metcalf (aka Arsenal Ship). It has some pics that show the framing and just how the hull looks when filled with foam and sanded. One note, when sanding the foam it is really easy to wind up with hollow spots between the frames. I...

    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

Instead of florists foam try either the pink or blue rigid foam insulation sold at lumber yards and home centers. Available in different thicknesses. Works easily and is very rigid over small spans. If you sand too much off you can always fill the hollow spots. Lightwieight spackle works well...

    1/3rd Scale Ferrari

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3NVJ4pEFuY Oh, just in case I forgot to mention it, the thing runs, working gearbox and everything. IMO it actually surpasses any thing done here http://www.enginehistory.org/model_engines.htm and this stuff blows me away

Upcoming cardmodel of the SATURN V / Apollo 11 launching equipment

Thomas, every so often I look in at the Microart site to see if anything has been added. While it appears progress is slow the scope of the undertaking is such that one appreciates the old saying that Rome wasn't built in a day.

    1/100th scale Bismark on Kartonbau

If you go to the Kartonbau* site in Shipping/Construction Threads there is an ongoing build of the Bismark in card at 1/100th scale. Is it me or does seem to be a trend amongst the more accomplished European modelers in terms of increasing the scale to add more detail? There is also a 1/100th...

Beginners build of Digital Navy's USS Arizona

Sure looks like the armature is going to be sufficently stiff to stand up to the rigors of handling during the rest of construction. Seeing this reminds me I have got to get off my rear end as far as hobby sttuff goes. Been way too busy on home remodeling projects

    Unusual Experimental Aircraft

Originally designed around a Pratt & Whitney X-1800 it had to modified when the X-1800 was cancaelled. The Allison V-1720 was not the engine that was the best choice. The stability issues IIRC had to do with spin problems, specifically inverted spin problems. One airframe still exists and is...

Early '70s I would imagine or late '60s. Still she's got to be better looking than a bridge.
