    New 4x8 layout

Thanks for all the help. Now that I know I cant do it, maybe I'll just make it an 18" double main. I dont want to get to into it as I might have to take it down when we sell our house. Hopefully we'll find a place with a big basement and I nwon't have to worry about size anymore.

    New 4x8 layout

I just did the benchwork for a 4x8. It is possible to have 2 lines with 22" curves? Or, does one have to be 22 and the other 18? I'm just making up my own configuration not modeling after any peticular railway. I was thinking of having a passenger train on the outside and a freighter on the...

    Looking for son

I did lose him (In the world of trains). He loves them. I guess What I was trying to ask was answered and I thank you all. My wife told me the other day she almost bought the Bachmann for him. I'm just worried that when I'm at work hell want to run his train on my layout. And of course...

I'll trade house with you. My basement is too small for HO and yours is to big for N.

    TGV dressup kit?

About 15 years ago, my Grandma bought me a Lima TGV set. It doesn't have windows or anything covering the engine lights. There are alot of details missing that I would love to add to it. She bought it brand new so I'm the only owner. Just wondering if there is a dress up kit still available...

    Crest Train Engineer

On the web site it says 27 & 75 mhz. If some kid is running a R/C car outside I'm thinking it will interfere, or am I just being paranoid.

    Looking for son

Thank you all for your help. He loves his plastic Fisher-price trains. I was just going to get him a Thomas train to run on my layout since he's so interested when I'm working on it. I've seen the Brio and was thinking about getting him that, but he always comes running up to me wanting me...

From one person to another getting back into the hobby, welcome. I haven't had my trains set up for about 15 yrs and am just getting back into it (thanks to my son). I don't know if it would help but Walthers.com deals in model railroading. I can't be sure if they shipo internatinal though...

    Crest Train Engineer

Does anyone one know anything abotu the Crest Train Engineer. I saw it in the Walthers catalog and was wondering if it's easier than DCC. The only difference I can see is that instead of the info comming through the rails, it's radio controlled. Is it worth the time and money?

    Looking for son

I was planning on waiting, but it kind of the same thing as you. I would probably just run the trains on my layout to make him happy. At least during the week I could run mine (I work nights and he's at preschool.) He is so into trans that I think him and I are the only ones who are happy...

    Crest Train Engineer

Everyone debates the issue of DCC and DC. Does anyone have an opinion on this new system from Crest? I guess it's the same thing as DCC except the inofrmation to the engine is radio contrlled instead of through the rails. Is this easier to learn and do than DCC? I do know you need a DCC...

    Looking for son

I have a 2 1/2 yr old. He loves his Geotrax from Fisher Price. He also loves watching Daddy's trains go around. I've been looking at getting him the Thomas and Friends set from Bachmann. Does anyone have any pros or cons to that set. Thanks, Tim

    train stuff in Chicago's Loop

I was going to suggest the MSI display, but everyone knows about it. If you have the chance to come back in the summer, the National Train Museum in Union IL is a good place to go. They have a web site with live cams, but I can't remember the address. It's about and hour and a half ride...
