    Atlas Suppliers - Australia

Hi all, especially the Aussies I am looking for suppliers of Atlas Code 83 flex track in Australia. I would like to compare the local cost with bring 25 lengths in from the U.S. With the cost of postage, the local price could be comparable. I did find that Casula Hobbies in Sydney have...

    Painting P2K bodyshells....

Hi All I recently bought a P2K GP-7 (HO) and because it was on sale, I could not get the road I wanted. The loco is in PRR colors and I want to paint it in early L&N colors (the black scheme). Firstly, can anyone suggest how to get the details off safely (like handrails etc) before...

    MDC Shay Tip Sheet

Hi Micheal I have that book and very good it is. Jeff refers to the tip sheets from MDC in it and sort of recommends having them to compliment the book. As for a particular protoype, I don't have one. My road never had one in real life so I am just winging it and adding one to the line...

    MDC Shay - Coal Burner?

Hi again As mentioned in another thread, my MDC Shay kit arrived today. I have read that there were some coal burning Shays in existence and that is what I want for my road. Can anyone tell me what changes would need to be made to show my Shay as a coal burner... Thanks in advance...

    MDC Shay Tip Sheet

Hi All My MDC 2 truck Shay kit arrived today and while I am not running off to build it just yet, I did look in the box. Apart from alot of scary looking parts, I found the 15-16 page instruction book but no tip sheets that I have read about in various places. Now that MDC is really no...

Decoders in cheap locos - worthwhile?

Thanks Freelancer Good info about Thomas and DCC. My son is mad about trains so my plan is to keep him interested as long as possible. I'd rather have him playing trains than watching TV or on a computer - MRR is more stimulating. He's getting a 4x8 in his room that he and his sister (6)...

What's it really like in the U.S.?

Hi all This is about as off topic as you can get! :) I have been thinking lately about the cost of things here in Aus from general day to day things like food and fuel to anything supporting my hobby of model railroading. So I asked myself, what is it really like in the U.S.... I...

    Creating a "scale" for drawings...

Excellent stuff! This is great. Thanks Ron, it is now in my more "native" measurement - yup, Australia is metric. I will now get measuring and converting to HO feet/inches while I am at it. Thanks all for your great help. Cheers Bruce

    Creating a "scale" for drawings...

Wow Pitchwife, that's some math there....Thanks for the effort. But (again), my problem is more of unscaled, unmarked dimensions. For example, the length is 128mm (66'), width is (by the looks) 64.5mm (33') and the height is 37mm (???? feet). It is the scale to get the ??? feet that I am working...

    Creating a "scale" for drawings...

Thanks for that but.... I have a scale rule. The problem is that there are unmarked dimensions and so I need to find the scale of the drawing to find the correct dimensions for those. Cheers Bruce
