EASY FOUNDATIONS & WALLS ! (dial up pic. warning)

Nice trick for the larger scales. (A bit tough to make N scale bricks, I'll bet.) BTW, no vinyl-asbestos tiles have been manufactured since 1982. Wayne

    Adirondack sawmill questions

Hello Silver and all still around. I've been away from the hobby for a while and worse, away from my Adirondack mountains for the past 6 months as I moved to the hills of western Maine to take a new job. Even though it isn't Northern NY, life here is good and I plan to stick around so I'm...

What Does Everyone Think About Ann Coulter?

"What Does Everyone Think About Ann Coulter?" Right-wing idealogue with the same basic talents of a parrot: Can only repeat what it's heard and leaves a pile of crap in it's wake. For right wing entertainment, I suggest the Sludge Report. His fiction writers at least show some degree of...

    AutoCad

Never used AutoCAD Light. Full-blown AutoCAD has put food on the table & rolling stock on the tracks since the mid-1980's. Currently using AutoCAD 2002 & happy as a clam with it. Every update of AutoCAD has reports of issues but I've never encountered any of the major problems that some have...

Wonder if the UP will charge me licensing fees for this thought...

I was shopping for a new sleeping bag but the prices were unbelievably high. When I asked the salesperson why, he said is was because down is up. Wayne

    Train Song Lyrics

Since this thread got revived after a year and a half, perhaps it's time to correct the original post that started it. Arlo Guthrie didn't write "City of New Orleans. It was penned by the late, great Steve Goodman a few years before Arlo had his hit with it. Wayne

One way to acquire kitbashing pieces...

Option 4: Get mold & casting material (like that sold by Smooth-on.com.) This assumes you still have an identical window to create a duplicate from. You'll then have your window, experience & a new modeling technique. Wayne

    Small logging layout update

How tight is the curve going to be at the future trestle, Brewer? If you're planning to use the Atlas N Scale Shay, it is reported to require a 9 1/4" radius. (or is it 9 3/4"?) Wayne

    Just starting out

Hi CAS, TileGuy's right, it's not something you will decide immediately, unless there is some past historical interests that lead you in a certain direction. The trick though, is to decide soon enough that you can get some trains rolling & keep the interest up. Years of research will definitely...

How to Do a Stucco Finish on Cerealboard

While I never applied it over cereal board, I've had good success using DAP Lightweight Spackle straight out of the container & troweled on thinly over basswood. The material can go on quite thinly & can be finished in a number of ways while wet. I imagine patting it with a fine-cell sponge...

OK you NEED one of these on your logging line

That could go a long way towards reducing the damage to the forest by heavy lugged tires and tracks used by current logging equipment. It's the damage from the roads that are built that takes longer for the woodlands to recover from. It's a little too recent for use on my logging layout...
