My Mulvane, Ks. vacation and railfanning trip

All the BNSF action is either south or north of Mulvane, Ks. just south of Wichita. The Amtrak and UP engines are in St. Louis in the yard near Busch Stadium. I was actually riding the Metra at the time when I grabbed the shots. Click the pic below to see all the shots from the trip

    Idea for my layout

You're right, however, It's actually on a rolling table I built, so I can get to all sides of layout. It is in my garage on concrete so moving is not hard. Thanks

    Idea for my layout

Thanks, Yeah, I thought of that... Not sure what I am going to do with that part of the road. It is going to be back to back with a wall in the corner. Roughly 4x10 and 4x8... It is actually a 4x6 against a 4x8. N scale.

    Idea for my layout

I planned on starting a new layout. Had begun one before, but I didn't care for it, so I am going to start over. I don't have any good layout programs, so I did this woith basic MS paint.. Not great, but you get the idea. The thin black is the track and sidings. The dark green is hills and the...

    Track Ballast

Ballast around here on our mainline headed east out of INdianapolis is a dark grey to almost black with some light grey mixed in. ON the local spurs near my work it is all light grey... I think it depends on what they have in the area at the time... You ballasting looks REALLY good!

    What is this?

What exactly is this?? It was sitting at the end of a siding on the Zionesville Industrial spur. It looks like a glorified weed-eater? Is that all it is? Seems elaborate for that...... Is it just used to clear brush and limbs?
