    MX Rolliing Stock

Ralph - I am saddened by the fact that two forum members objected to two Air Force vets in effect saying "Hello!" to each other. The missile sites I noted in my post were where major accidents occured (with loss of life). I will now return MMs "hi-jacked" thread ... and to make sure it...

    MX Rolliing Stock

Sorry MM, but if you (or any one else) had more to say on this topic, why didn't you (or them) say it ??? Hey - if any thread of mine is as dead as this one, feel free !!! Threads lead where threads lead - there is, IMHO, no "ownership".

    MX Rolliing Stock

Hey David ! If you ever get a chance and are in the Tucson area, go to see the last remaining Titian II site (DM) - it's now a museum! A scene from one of the Star Trek movies was shot there (in the silo). My brother-in-law (who is also an ex-MCCC) and I went to see it earlier this Summer...

    MX Rolliing Stock

MM - I have no doubt you saw the cars - I'm just stating (based on 12 years as an officer in USAF missile systems) that there is no ICBM inside. Maybe it is on it's way to disposal, as they are no longer needed (at least, for the original purpose).

MM - The MX rail system was never deployed. See: LGM-118A Peacekeeper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia BTW - I was in the USAF (SAC) for 12 years. Eight years as a Titan II Missile Combat Crew Commander and Sector Maintenance Officer at McConnell AFB, KS, and 4 years as a Minuteman...

    My Thoughts on Preorders

MM - They all are 'bout there - your dealer is pre-ordering and taking the risk that someone (maybe you) will buy their inventory. But most locos are now made to order. That's the way that stick floats. Percussion ???!!! Them percussions and those cartridge guns are just a passing...

    FolkArt paint question ...

Thanks for the info, Gus, Kevin and Andrew ! Just what I needed to know !! I'll dullcoat the structure and give it a try - and let Mark know if there are any 4th of July fireworks !!!

    My Thoughts on Preorders

A good point, Charlie - a lot of the risk has been moved from the manufacturer to the LHS/internet store (if they decide to get "extras" for those impulse buyers) and the buyers who pre-order (who must hope the maker will produce the quality product they want). What a deal! But this mode...

    FolkArt paint question ...

... can FolkArt acrylic paint be used on plastic ??? I have some layout buildings that need paint, and we already have some in the house, but I can't find any info on workable surfaces !!! Thanks!

    My Thoughts on Preorders

MM, that argument assumes that there ARE any loco makers that don't use (or not planning on going to) the pre-order system. Who would that be ??? It's not Atlas, Athearn, Walthers, Kato, ..., etc. That is to say, all the major players capable of producing a quality product are going to...

    darn, darn, darn

Ozzy - Lifelike used to have a lifetime warranty (as long as you have not attempted a repair or other alteration) - I assume Walthers has continued this - call them !!!

    My Thoughts on Preorders

Most of the makers (BLI, Athearn, Atlas) seem to be going to a "made to order" mode for their high end products, where they produce the number of preorders and little if any others. In fact, BLI has gone to a brass mode of not making the item unless they have enough preorders! They even have a...

    Frustrated with a Athrean Loco

That's true, Larry ... and it's even worse when the maker hasn't given out the CV "map" along with the decodered loco - then one can REALLY get lost! wall1 Even my favorate maker (Atlas) has been known to do this (or NOT to do it, if you get my drift). :curse: Luckily, there...
