    New sighting

I saw two units go by today on a container train thru Bellefontaine, Ohio, they were freshly painted in U.P. colors, but with "CEFX" below the cab windows and huge engine numbers. Who owns these?

    Sperry Rail Service

Sperry on the Big Four I live in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The CSX mainline is a tight curve through town and is ground and serviced often by similar units. My house is next to the track and we can smell the hot steel and sparks when they come through...quite a show. This is at the Tower 141, the...

    LPB's on Strike!

Strikers Be sure to supply fire barrels with plenty of wood for the plastic people to stand around...and melt...blobs of glue with bits of rags will simulate ungrateful workers who got too close to the fire.

    Bridge pics wanted...Please :-)

Bridges Great bridges, all of these. The best RR bridge I know of is on the north side of Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a mammoth, multi-track lift type. It is so big it has to be seen to be believed. Do any of you Razorbacks have a photo of it to put up here?. Ted

    Automatic train selection

I run HO, 2-rail DC. By sequential operation, I mean that trains parked in a yard leave the yard, travel around the layout at least once and then return and stop where they began. Does anyone know of a wiring diagram for a layout that can operate a number of trains sequentially, out of and returning to a large double-ended yard? Thanks. Ted on the T&OC.

    Athearn drive upgrade

Parts Thanks Brakie, I'll use their driveshaft kits. Now to find plastic (nylon or delrin?) gears and I can layout the sideframes. If I can find bronze axle bushings I'll solder them in to the sideframe. I'm going to copy an existing design so I can get these A-B-B-A units up and running...

rail joiners, curves and C40 rail

Rail joints on curves You can bring the rail ends together and solder a piece of thin spring wire that lays along the outside of the rail and reinforces the joint. Use silver-bearing solder for strenghth.

    Athearn drive upgrade

I have 8 rubber-band-drive F7's that I want to convert to gear-driven, using the original motors. Has anyone out there done this or know of retrofit parts? I can copy and scratchbuild geardrives in the original trucks but will save time if parts are ready-made. They should pull like crazy if I...

    Layout in a Shipping Container?

Container train room Build it! Put in house-type doors and windows. Be sure there are two escapes, one at each end, in case of fire. Ask your local Fire Chief for advice, and make a model railroader out of him!!! I'm can't tell a Canadian about insulation and ventilation and heat...Be sure the...
