    Trams and urban rail

Wow. Oh so gorgeous and tantalizing! But I think they are all HO, correct? If they were in "N" I would definitely go for some of those articulated sets! Gavin

    Trams and urban rail

Here are a couple of shots of the Modemo 300 Series LRVs in the green and orange schemes (blue also available). Hobby shops here in Australia carry them on the shelf. For mail order, you could also try Doug Coster's "Japanese Model Supplies" in Sydney at http://japanese-model-supplies.com/

    Trams and urban rail

The Japanese manufacturer Modemo makes a series of articulated LRVs (called the 300 series) in several colours. I have three and they all run super smoothly including at very slow speed. I tried to attach a photo but it was disallowed as it has already been uploaded in another post (ages ago)...

    Japanese N Scale Railroads

Doug's just in the process of modifying "Setagaya" to include an elevated Shinkansen line. Also worth doing a "search" on The Gauge using keyword "Japanese". You will find some other threads here where Doug has shared photos of his efforts. Gavin

Switching to N scale any tips

Hmm ... what N-scale are you in Mikey? Most 1ft high N-scale mountains I know of would be 160 scale feet high. Japanese ones would be 150 scale feet high and British ones 148 scale feet high. I haven't heard of a 1/174 scale in "N"? :) Just bein' picky ... Glad you saw the...

    What do you think

CNWfan, Although I would not regard myself as any expert in the field, I thought I'd give you a link to some photos of my TOFCs which were airbrushed (soot at the front to represent exhaust stains from the prime movers and dust/grime above the wheels to represent road dust)...

Building the 'new' Setagaya Japanese layout

Those new Kato buildings look great Doug. I am glad the Japanese manufacturers (Kato, Tomix, Green Max, etc) release such a wide range of modern buildings. I find them so much more useful than most of the European building models which don't look "generic" enough to look appropriate on...

best brands of N scale locomotives

Here's a GREAT resource - the "N-scale Locomotive Encyclopedia" located here:- http://www.visi.com/~spookshow/locos.html Photos and commentary on just about anything ever produced in N-scale. Gavin

best brands of N scale locomotives

Kato rules!! The only Atlas locos I've purchased (2 xSD60 & 1 x SD60M) were a disappointment in terms of running quality compared with my silky smooth Katos. I hardly ever run the Atlas locos because I just prefer the performance of my Katos. It's a telling statement about the quantum...

Building the 'new' Setagaya Japanese layout

Doug, I liked your idea for a bus station so much I talked myself into buying a 4-pack set of Tomix buses that just arrived at Perth Hobby Centre (where I work on Saturdays). They're quite nice little kits which I can paint up in the livery of a freelanced city transit company. My...

    My freelanced railroad

Yes, they have been progressively modified and upgraded to comply with changing standards (note ditch lights have been added). I think it's great to be able to see bulldog-nosed locomotives (my favorites) still earning a living in everyday MAINLINE service in 2004! For specs on these and...

Yes, still lots of these (CLP/CLF classes) hauling double-stack container trains and other freight. Gavin

    Kato AC4400's

That's exactly why I decided to freelance Mike. I guess I'm just a big kid, but I like to let my imagination add to the enjoyment of my hobby. By freelancing I can do whatever my imagination dreams up, use whatever equipment I damn well please and run things exactly the way *I* want 'cause...
