    Supplies Needed for 4x8 layout

That is a really hard question to answer. It depends on a number of factors, including the type of terrain you are modelling - winter, summer, dessert, rocky, how sparce you intend on scenicing your layout. One trick I have learned is paint the base coat the same or similar colour as the...

    Hills and Mountains

I found a really cheap way to make hard shell scenery. My trick is to cover wadded newspaper, expanded foam (or any other type of substructure) with strips of absorbent paper towel dipped into a thinned plaster or hydrocal mixture. A roll of absorent towelling is less than $2 at your local...

    Kato passenger cars

Jim, I know this reply is a little late, but my suggestion is to replace the couplers with MicroTrains. Have a look at http://www.micro-trains.com/00_conversions.htm and click on the Kato link. These are bullet proof couplers and in addition, to add a little more realism, when you add the...

Tortoise and Atlas Code 55 Track

Does anyone have experience with these two combinations. I am about to build a layout using Atlas Code 55 turnouts and Circuitron Tortoise Switch Machines and I have a slight concern that the Tortoise may be too forceful on the Code 55 turnout. What I mean by forceful is that the Tortoise is...

Do you belong to the NMRA ?

Is there a benefit for me to join in Australia? I doubt it. That said, I am a member of a model railroad club, which certainly has it's benefits.

    Favorite N Scale Manufacturer

Definately Kato for me, although I have Atlas and Intermountain locos as well. Kato out performs all the rest.

    Hi all

Hi all, I'm Eddie from Perth, Western Australia. I've just joined the forum because I am an avid N scale model railroader. I've been into model railroading for quite a few years, mainly collecting. I run both DC and DCC, I use a Lenz Digital Plus digital systems and have a large collection...
