    Brick Painting Help Needed

Thanks for the responses and ideas guys. I posted this same question on two different forums and got a total of three replies. I like your idea Wayne, but am not sure I have a steady enough hand. Russ, Since these sheets are white, do you think spray painting them brick red first and then...

    Brick Painting Help Needed

I recently visited Nevada City, CA and saw the 1861 Fire Station which is still in pretty decent shape. Shortly after returning I was roaming around on the net and came across the same building featured in a Historical Scale Miniatures kit. I just had to have it for the BAD Western and now I...

Looking good:thumb: Why do you use Dullcoat first under paint? Doesn't the paint totally cover it? Doc

    Flea Markets/Yard Sales?

I recently came home to find a present from Ms. Doc. Seems she went by a local thrift store looking for toys for our lab pups and came home with the following, all new in original boxes: American Model Builders Farmers Grain Elevator Laser Cut Kit American Model Builders Cumbres Depot Laser...

Idaho Springs Mine (Campbell craftsman kit)

You're progress is looking good so far. Am anxious to see the weathered pics. The BAD Western is significantly suffering from a serious lack of available time. I'll bet it's been at least six months since I did anything. I'm trying to get re-motivated but am actually having terrible...

Idaho Springs Mine (Campbell craftsman kit)

At least you guys have them. I live in a city of 280,000 that doesn't have a LHS. Looks like you're off to a god start. Here's how mine (no pun intended) turned out. Doc

    Track Templates

I picked up a complete set of Atlas track templates at my (not so) LHS for $4.95. Made a bunch of copies (after adjusting copy machine to make actual same size copies) and played around with them and layed out my entire layout full size. Once I had what I wanted I simply sprayed a light coat...

    A question about windows???

I like to use the tops of most yogurt containers. Ms. Doc always has some in the fridge. The tops are usually slightly frosted, but still translucent. One side is also usually shiny and reflective as well. Add a little india ink wash and you have one dirty window. Doc

    Tunnels

Try using foil for the inside of your tunnels. Fold several sheets together flat and then scunch them up a little to create a rough texture, but still have a basically flat piece overall. Roll it into a tunnel shape and spray paint the inside flat black. Then simply glue it to the layout and...

    BTTF Time Train, Anyone?

If you find one, let me know. I've been looking for one for 3 years. Reel Rides was supposed to release one last November but it hasn't appeared yet. You can find 1:65 scale, which is close. I started to kitbash a Lamborguini and stopped when I heard about the RR release. Guess I'll have to...

    Pink or blue foam, Where?

I'm in Stockton and after a couple on months of searching and a whole lot of phone calls, e-mails and frustration, I finallly gave up and used the white stuff. Save yourself the hassle and just give in to it. Doc
