If you SHOULD get to take Metro, if you go to King St. station in Alexandria you will be on the main NS/CSX north-south line which has both Amtrak and varied freight (lots of intermodals and some coal consists as well. The Amtrak Sta. is just across from the elavated Metro stop at King St. and...
Aside from spending Saturday afternoon on the way to, at or coming back from the Chantilly show I spent the weekend tearing apart my old layout and getting a new micro layout started.
The N scale layout at C hantilly was in fact humongous! Several major mfger's there (Atlas, IM, Kato, etc.)...
Found a cheap paint it urself wooedn tray at Michaels about a month ago for $2.49 that I use. Has nice "rails" around it and also slots cut in the narrow end panels and use that for my things when I am working. Also found a small metal bucket about 3" high that is poerfect for paint brushes...
Ray, I can't unfortunately answer your question but chris333 who is a member here and several other forums I lurk is currently working on converting a dooddlebug for an interurban car he is kitbashing and may be able to answer your question. He is most active on railwire if you want to try him...
I am not sure about most "normal" cities but here in Alexandria we have $700,000+ townhouses sitting in the middle of housing projects along with other oddities.
Is there any other dual control power pack available other than MRC Tech II DualPower 2800 Transformer? I have checked a few places but didn't find others listed.
Hummmm

Have you ever had a problem with n-scale dogs who recognized the orgin of the mower's motor? :D
I wound up getting a Roco (REA car) because it was there and I like it.
The "extra" Overton will not go to waste as I have other plans  for it.I do like Robin's idea and may try that as a small project one of these days.
My Overton adventure Pt. 2.
Ah, wonders never cease. I received my 34' Overtons Friday and - much to my surprise and dismay found the undecorated cars were KITS not RTR.
All is well however, assembly was a cinch and due to a packing snafu I got two baggage cars and one combine...
Just wondering if any one has tried using FoamPrep as a "sealing coat" on their layout. This is a glue-like product that is sold at all the shows in the mid-Atlantic region along with a hot wire form shaping tool.
What do you use on foam surfaces as a finish coat?
Has anyone here used either the Model Power or Roco track cleaning cars? I'm sure the Atlas does a better job but on a small layout like mine I hate to spend the $50 or so for the Atlas which also looks a bit too "outer-spacey" for my taste. :thumb:
Just a short update: Did add some temporary terrain features (small hills, a backdrop and some low shrubbery) along with some of my wife's beloved cows and horses and some mockups of proposed structures I will scratch build. The Overlands run fine but still look disproportionate to what I have...
