    Online auction/classified

Is there any good auction site or classified listings for HO stuff beside Ebay? I finally had enough of the Bay when they cancelled my latest auction because I said in the description that I would also accept cash. My bad. Can you imagine taking U.S legal tender rather than Paypal?

    On30 Spectrum

Well, I found the loco I want, Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 outside frame. Seems like they only make it in On30. Never having looked at this scale, I'm wondering if it's going to look grossly out of scale on a HO layout. Any suggestions appreciated.

    New plans

    I did a 4X8 with a 2X4 added so it's a 8X6 L shape, but 4 feet wide. It's a nightmare to work on. 2 sides are on walls.

    1920's Vehicles

Is there someone other than Jordan making teens or '20's vehicles that are realistic and somewhat affordable? I'd like to build some log trucks from mid '20's up to maybe a '29 Model AA Ford.

    Old timey boxcar color

I'm assembling a batch of UP old time truss rod boxcars. They are basically red oxide in color but the bottoms are bare die cast. Would these have been painted also or left natural wood? Thanks..... Chuck

    Dang Bachmann Chinese #@%&^#$!!

Thanks, Errol. I was going to ask if anyone had better luck with the higher end locos of the same design. I have a IHC Mogul I like a lot and thought of trying one of their 4-4-0's.

    Dang Bachmann Chinese #@%&^#$!!

Has anyone ever gotten one of those oldtime Jupiter type engines (4-4-0) with the driveshaft from the tender to run for more than 5 minutes? What's the trick to keep these things going? (or was I the only guy dumb enough to buy one?)

    What size wheels?

Actually, I kind of don't remember. My initial goal was to have metal sprung trucks and metal wheels. I found a bunch of these on ebay a year or 2 ago. I think they were something like CSM or a similar manufacturer. They seem fine, have ribbed wheels, look OK. I just wasn't up on what was...

    What size wheels?

Thanks, Dash. I suppose the average guy isn't going to look at it and tell me my stock is .017" too low. I think I'll ignore it.

    What size wheels?

Quite a while ago I replaced the arch bar trucks on my old timey passenger cars (Roundhouse Overton types). I measured them and they scale out to 33". Now I'm wondering if these are correct scale as I see the 33" are usually listed for freight cars and passenger are 36". They work fine and line...

    4 x 8 suspended, raise & lower

I just picked up a little book from 1962 that has a little bit about this subject along with a picture of a setup with 2 plywood layouts. Will scan and post if anyone is interested.......

    new website

I also had my page on Tripod. I downloaded a freebie program off the net called SIP (surf in peace) which is supposed to kill those pop ups and did fairly well but it's another thing loaded in memory. I finally moved my stuff to my local ISP's server and now am rid of the lousy pop-ups. Chuck...
