Here we go again "Freight car of the week"?

Good looking cars here. Here is a wooden car I bought at a train show a couple of years ago. It appears to either be an older wooden kit, or a craftsman kit.

Thanks Miles. What kind of detail parts did you need? I got a little bit farther today. I got the rest of the molded-on details sanded off and replaced the sand lines with 30 GA wire. Also I an scratchbuilding an air tank which is also in the picture. On the fual bunker, I cut away the...

    0-4-0T Junker to Logger

At this point, I have removed the smokestack, smokebox front, molded on air compressor, and working on other details. I also stripped part of the old paint. I decided to use a left over Rally-Hunter stack from a MDC Shay and made a new smokebox front from sheet styrene and modified precision...

Hello All, While comming back from my parent's house in May, I stopped at an antique store outside of Beckly, WV. The store is actually the old coal company store of Cranberry, WV. While looking, I asked the owner if he had any model trains, and he showed me to the store basement. There...

    Peach Creek (Brakie)

Peach Creek is near Logan, WV on the old C&O Logan Sub division. I remember years ago passing by there on the way to my grandparent's house in Williamson. I would look across the bridge that went over there and see a gondala in old C&O livery.

Varney F3. This also came from e-bay, and looks to have had the pulley drive.

    More Aquisitions

Here is a LL P2K E8. I got this at the C&O Historical Society for $20.00. It was shelf worn with a deformed shell caused by heat. I'm still looking for a replacement shell.

    More Aquisitions

I've managed to pick up some more oldie projects since February. This flatcar actually came from the train show in February. I'm not sure who made it. There are some melted spots on the deck that I may either cover with a false deck or scratchbuilt low end sides and load.

    Overhauling A Varney Coal Hopper

Small update today. I got the body painted this morning and will wait a couple of days for it to dry completely. I ordered some decals from Champ and Walthers, and they arrived yesterday. i'll start with them after the body dries. Cox: I have one of the Varney cardboard boxcars in my...

    Overhauling A Varney Coal Hopper

I have installed all of the grab irons to the car body. I decided to go with Athearn trucks with Kadee wheel sets. They appear to be the closest match to those in a photograph of one of the prototypes. After another washing with Dawn, it will be ready for the paint shop. I temporarily...

    Overhauling A Varney Coal Hopper

That's a great looking DC Flat there. I have a MDC metal gondala in my collection as well. A lot of the older models do have a lot of potential.
