Thanks for the information. I will be getting a couple of sheets this weekend and give them a try. Might be few weeks before I get a result but your tips are appreciated.

    making decals

Lucky him, we only get there every couple of years. I work on the railroads in the UK, I am actually on nights here as I type. I am a Signaller at Reading (about 35 miles West of London) where we handle up to 1500 trains a day. Luckily its not so busy at night !

    making decals

Yes, well my wife is from Chile, we go there every couple of years and I like it up in the Atacama Desert where the copper trains live. I just acquired a redundant US style layout from my local club and am converting it to something South American. I have the domestic seal of approval as she is...

Found Great Model Rr Site On E-bay

It seems that a lot of the bidding goes on closer to the end of the auction. You may be surprized how it goes in the last hours before your auction closes. There are many who are 'watchers' and eventually make a bid when somebody starts it off. It's a question of who's bottle goes first. Over...

    making decals

http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk It actually looks quite a useful site, my wife is into crafting and it looks like it has a lot of goodies on there for her as well. Looking more closely at the decal sheets they do two sorts, clear and white, the idea being if you want to use white...

    making decals

Ok, thanks for the help. I have found a site in the UK that says it can print all colors so my problem may be solved. I wish we had Micromart in the UK, the sheets here are $3 an A4 sheet and the sealing adhesive $18 a can ! No wonder we go to the States once a year with a big long shopping...

    making decals

I am modelling Chilean copper railways (yes, really) and as such there are no commercial decals available for the companies concerned. However I have photos of what I want in a book. Is there anybody out there who knows how to make your own decals from scratch, ie what type of paper or material...

    Code 55 track

I am modelling South American which is reality is North American locos and cars. As mentioned earlier I have Proto 2000 locos, some IHC, Athearn, and older Bachmann. I have also bought some Frateschi locos which are Brazilian models of GE diesel locos. I don't know whether they will be suitable...

    Code 55 track

It's commercial with live frog pointwork. Unfortunately the boards are hidden away in the back of the club shed and is hard to get to without removing everything else first. We meet weekly so I will take some stock up there Friday and see how we get on. I was just wondering how compatible code...

    Code 55 track

My local club is having a clearout and they are disposing of an American based layout laid with code 55 track. It hasn't been used for several years so nobody could remember whether the rolling stock had wheels 'as fitted' or they had to go for fine scale. I have Proto 2000 locos and a...

Do you like british steam locos?

There were a lot of experimental liveries about in the late 1940's and early 50's when the newly formed British Railways were trying to get what would be called nowadays a corporate image. Blue was tried on the Western, Eastern and Midland Region express locos but eventually green was settled on...

    Hobby shops Orlando

Just grabbing a quick week away from the dreadful weather in the UK and going to Orlando on the 9th March. On the lookout for hobby shops specializing in railways. I seem to remember visiting a shop in Winter Park some years ago, and am on the lookout for some more. I have Googled it and...

    HO/HOn3 conversion

Have you considered going to S scale? No I hadn't but looking at its a bit expensive for me and our Customs and Excise are very good at bumping the price up if they get their hands on it. If you need to haul that much then you might as well just build standard gauge. Remember many of...

    HO/HOn3 conversion

Thanks for the interest. The locos in use in my particular area of interest, which is Chile, use various GE locos a majority of which are now about fifty years old. I am quite happy to run what I have got on HO, but thought if there was an easy conversion with wheels I might be able to get a...

    HO/HOn3 conversion

Hello there, Heres a little poser. My interest is in South American metre gauge copper mining railways. The intention is to run diesel outline (General Electric) locos with a variety of tank cars, flat cars and hoppers. All of this equipment is available as HO ready to run, and I have bought...
