    What's Happened To The Gauge?

Nope, I can't figure out where the heck I'm going either. I used to have a direct link to the n scale forum, now I can't even find it. It would be nice if a notification were sent out beforehand.

    Accurail Switchman

I'm looking to avoid magnets altogether. I've used ad hoc implements like toothpicks too. I just thought the Accurail tool might be worth looking into, being specially designed to be used with Accumate couplers.

    Accurail Switchman

Hi everyone, My layout is small enough that I can do all my uncoupling by hand. In surfing the net I've come across the Switchman tool by Accurail, which seems like it might work well, but I've only seen it in conjunction with HO couplers. Does anyone know if it also works for N scale? Thanks...

New N Scale Layout - Basic Project to Learn the good stuff

Looks great so far. My own layout is just about the same size. Like you, I had put off getting started for lack of space, but I finally got in gear and started building on a scrap piece of flakeboard. Here's how things look so far on mine:

    N Scale Dummy Engines

For one thing, I don't run DCC, I use block wiring. Second, I don't consider it "destroying" an engine. It's modifying them so I can put them to the sort of use I want them for. Rather than mixing and matching my locomotives, trying to find two that run "more or less" at the same speed (which...

    N Scale Dummy Engines

I simply bite the bullet and gut the engines. I have four dummy locomotives, two Kato and two Atlas, and so they look just as good as the powered units. You can remove the motor and still keep the directional lighting, that way the dummy can run in front and still look like it's doing the pulling.

    cn/chessie lashup?

Great photos Jacques! I remember driving home from Quebec City back in the 80's and seeing a CN unit just like that one.

    cn/chessie lashup?

I've tried every conceivable google search, but I can't find the answer to my question. Would it have been possible to find a Canadian National unit and a Chessie System unit together in a lashup? I have two units that I'd like to run together on my layout, but I'd be happier if I knew it to be...

    Ok lets try this again

Excellent choice! I just purchased that same exact model, same road number too. Should be arriving soon. I'm going to lash her up with my CEFX AC4400.

    My wee layout

It's been a while since my first post concerning my little layout, so much so that the original picture has disappeared. Here's a photo of things as they currently stand: I'm kind of anxious to move things along, as I have a new track plan in the works for a bigger layout. But this one is...

    C32-8 in n scale?

I'd be happy with either the c32 or the c39. I'm not at the point where I need this particular model with this particular road number with this particular spot of rust on the fuel tank. I just like the hunchback look of the thing.

    Atlas switch machines

They're huge, they're unrealistic, and they're downright ugly. But dammit, those Atlas remote turnouts are easy to work with. In planning my new layout, I've been going back and forth on whether to use them or go the more "realistic" route, using either under-table switch machines or ground...

    C32-8 in n scale?

That's true, although the similar c39-8 was owned by a few more railroads. That too would be a nice one to see in n scale.

    C32-8 in n scale?

Alas ... I guess there' can't be models of everything, but I would have thought that the first of the six-axle dash-8's would have been a good candidate.
