I thought Ripley added scale and perspective. :)

AAARGH! I knew it - Dan is a ming-reading JEDI!!!

:D:D:D

No kidding: We DEFINITELY need the Narcissus to make the Alien line-up complete (Prometheus would be a fine addition, too, BTW). There is a looooong thread on theRPF where a group of outstandingly talented and reputated people are making a studio-scale Narcissus replica kit using all the different model bits and pieces used on the real thing. It is HUGE, to say the least. One of the test-builders is Lee Stringer. I have sent him some links to the BSG and Buck paper models the good guys at zealot have made and I really hope this creates some interest (he likes builds by fans). :cool: Anyway, there is plenty of reference pictures including some orthos which could be used for a paper version. ;)

Albeit, this is something I am thinking of to do, but not now. So if anyone is interested in making her, please do it. The basic shape is not very difficult. The ship comes to life with the texture. Did you know that the model from "Aliens" is a different one than the one from "Alien"? Well, I didn't. :)

If I can get a Mesh, I can usually make that Mesh unroll. That would be my contribution. My hands hurt too much to attempt to build. The Neurapthy is getting bad, then again, some days I don't feel it at all? This is why I make so many Renders, but don't follow through to the end. So I Administrate, hoping that offers something.

This could be a starting point. However, first it has to be checked if the proportions are correct before anything can be done with it. The best thing is to begin from scratch with the orthos from the RPF thread, of course. So you can design the model to meet the requirements of a paper build. Second, the generic texture must be exchanged, and this is where it becomes labour intense.

Here is the MASSIVE thread on theRPF including the sketches (posts #19 & #21):

(I'm a member there, too; my nick is "Galactican" because somehow I was unable to use anything "Revell"-related..! ;))

HURRY UP!!!

:blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface:

Is that enough whipping to get this finished so that I can build it ????
Is that enough whipping that you will get this finished so that you can get back to the Viper Mk1 ??????

If not, have some more ..... :blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface::blueface:

I want your Mk1 more than anything.......... The Mk1 was, and always will be, the best version for me.

:);)

That is really coming out nice. I wish you would edit the pics with some big red lettering, so no one will grab them out of the thread! You do such great work, and you help so much with this forum. You are one of the people keeping this place thriving! Well, actually, there are a sh*t load of you guys doing that! :)

@zathros : Well, people may take them out of the thread but it will do them no good because the resoultion is so bad that the plane will look like felgercarb - unless it is build in the scale provided which means the finished one will be impossible to see without a microscope! ;)

(However, good point! :))

@DanBKing : AHHHH, THANK GOODNESS!!! I was missing that one SOOO MUCH!!! :animated:

Alright, I'm hurrying to get back on track! CU! :bigcar:

+++ Short sitrep +++

Flaps added. Parts were re-layouted which saved one page. First stand idea was abandoned and replaced with a new one (you're gonna like that ;) ). At the moment 97 parts on 6 pages. Parts look very nice so no post-processing in Gimp (yet). Parts are easily recognizable so the kit could be assembled without instructions. :cool: Showed my WIPs to my colleagues at work. They were completely blown away (alright, some think I have gone crazy but that's OK :D).

NEXT:

Dusting off the printer and sharpening the hobby knife..! :)
