I just saw the new Nolan film Interstellar and LOVED it. While it did have a few flaws that must be acknowledged, the film blew me away with breathtaking set pieces, great story & acting, thought-provoking ideology, and BEAUTIFUL cinematography. If you are at all a fan of sci-fi, I would recommend that you see it ASAP!
I was also wondering if anyone knows of or is willing to design any of the spacecraft from Interstellar.

you can find some cool info and looks at the ship Endurance here:

Wow, beautiful shots, just imagine the supports required for the circular ship! I have just the man in mind to design it...... of course, he would have to agree....

UHU02, would do these shots justice. ;)

I too like the design. Yesterday I watched a short making of on TV. They interviewed Kip Thorne who was scientific advisor of the film. He said that everything shown was based on modern physics; even the Black Hole and the Worm Hole seen in the movie looked like they look in reality for the first time in motion picture history.

My thoughts exactly. This would be PERFECT for him to tackle after he finishes his Argo build, as it has lots of complex little sections and interiors that I would LOVE to have. This film is honestly my favorite science fiction of all time, above even the classics like Star Wars and 2001 ASO

I saw that as well. The visuals of the black hole and the wormhole were BREATHTAKING. My entire theater gasped at the scene where their ship flies past Saturn (which is obviously meant as an homage to 2001)

It will take a while to get there and also, a while for meshes to get out, made, etc. They don't look overly complicated, but if you find yourself asking for models to be made, you consider starting the process of learning how to do it. It isn't as difficult as you may think. There is no telling what designer might have ob their plate. If you do find meshes, this thread might be a good place to post them. :)

The designer has courteously given permission for the model to be used to turn into a paper model :D He said he would just like me to send him the link once it's done and he'd like his name to be listed as the original model designer in the finished templates.

Unfortunately, I have no way of unfolding the model or texturing it, as I have a Mac and thus can't get pepakura. I also can't afford even a cheep windows computer, otherwise I'd have gotten one a while ago. Anybody interested in helping?

I don't want to be a wet towel but converting a paper model from a mesh is not easy to do. Having him listed as a contributor is good enough, but he most certainly is not the designer, unless he works for the production company. What you have is someone who made a mesh from someone else's design.

I found the model, it is printed and made under the GNU licensing, you don't have to ask anybody anything.

I want to get something straight here. People, out of courteous, many times unfounded and not necesary, ask about modifying a Stat Trek model, like if that person had some Legal rights to that model.

I bring this up in this case. Do not give people authority they do not have! I END UP HAVING TO CLEAN UP THAT MESS.

There are so few models that required someone to ask, I honestly can't think of any. I am not talking about scans obviously, but have fun, make what you want, don't put up unnecessary road blocks. They aren't necessary, and all you are doing is blowing smoke up someone's ass, it givers them a false sense of power, then I have to bitch slap them back into place. This stuff is put out there for people to use, and if you aren't charging for it, I have yet to see a case where anybody need be asked anything.

Now, that is my opinion, but being the Administrator, with Rhaven, standing side by side, do realize this statement carries weight. That Mesh isn't that good. I had to eliminate around 250 lines to put out the partial model I made on a whim. It is far from complete. I think this ship is a dumb ass design. It has no elastomeric properties and would be destroyed by vibration, hey, what do I know? :)

P.S> Those Meshes unfold after you do much work to them. Anyone can make a mesh of something that is going to look pretty, making one for use in making a paper model is quite another thing. :)

p.s.s. SSTO! (Single Stage to Orbit! No way, that ship is way to small and could not possible carry the fuel it would need.

pssss. That is why this forum is so good, people just do their thing. Someone has something negative to to say, or post some Legal mumbo Jumbo, up where the Sn doesn't shine with it. You guys don't deserve and don't need to worry about that negative crap creeping in, Chris and I revel in taking care of that stuff. I live for those moments. It's been 3 years since I've had to chew anyone out. You guys are wonderful!! Make models, have fun, use everything this forum has to offer, it's quite a bit right now. The Gallery is so impressive!! :)

INDEED! This has blown me away completely!

Judging from what Google translator gave me UHU had held back his new project in order not to give any spoilers because the movie hadn't been released in some countries yet.

Another GREAT find, Cforrest! (You should have been promoted PMD - paper model detector ;) !)
