Hi together,

I have still some plastic models to build and here is another one.
Star Wars - X-Wing - small version with only few parts and no glueing required.
First you see the different models I own, and the parts of the small version. Interesting detail: the pilot and r2d2 are already included as can be seen on picture 3. This model also includes decals and a stand.

Looks like an interesting model! Can't wait to see it all together. When I was alot younger I put some snap tight models together and they looked pretty good. Looks like the box took some hits. Atleast the model is ok.

Wow, that brings back memories! I build this one as well! (Sorry, Starbuck ;)) It's a nice easy kit & looks great when done!

Did you know that the larger Ertl kit was featured in the movies (and most prominently in TESB)? So in a way this is studio scale! :)

(Between you and me: The Ertl ships reveal themselves when you look at the fuselage. Most of them had been used in the background except for most of the scenes when Luke lifts off Hoth and cruises through Cloud City. I guess the small one that blew up shortly before the Super Star Destroyer was hit by the A-Wing in ROTJ was one of them, too. ;) )

Also a new information for me. So I am happy to own also the big version.thumbsup
Took some time to colour the first parts, and here they are:

Looks good so far, just remember to make it "look used"

I did not know that! That you for the trivia, something to test fellow Star Wars fans with! ;)
Kinda like the old ertl TOS Enterprise from 1966 being used to depict the USS Constellation in the classic episode 'Doomsday Machine' makes the commercial kits "canon" in the series... :)

OH, oh, all my plastic models are "new". I really would like to make (maby not all but some) them look "used".
The problem is: I don´t know how to, and based on this I don´t want to do. - Is there any tutorial or any examples maybe I could learn how to make models look "used"?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, just wait a second ( or two ).

There is a guy named Stefan Hacker - he has put some weathering tutorials up on youtube. He is REALLY a master when it comes to that. I'll dig out the links and post them here. Stay tuned! :)

OK, here is the link to his channel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/TheHackcore/videos

I've got to know Stefan on a German SciFi model building forum ( www.phoxim.de ).

There are many other videos and tutorials in the web; just search for "weathering tutorial", "weathering effect", "aging effect", "used look" etc.

Hope this helps!

:)
Thank you so much - I will check later on and then decide on which model I will do my first weathering.
But first the brand new fighter.

Oh, fogot to mention. One part of this model is not used. Can be seen on second photo - the piece behind the cockpit. Don´t know why delivered - but OK.

looking good, I recall that "dud piece" from when I built this one. Probably spent 1/2 an hour trying to figure out where it went

Strange idea to put a piece which is not needed into the box.

Next parts coloured and assembled. Where to colour the pilot was hard work cause of the size.
Still missing the decals - yes I will use them although it might be better not to use and to paint it.
Still missing weathering. Before doing this I will have to check lot of internet stuff and to get the needed tools.
So weathering will have to wait for a while.

Very cool. Some paper sites would begrudge plastic models creeping in but I find it refreshing. I plan to use my BSG Star Fury model to make an exact copy out of it in paper, then modify it to improve on all the mistakes. (Don't hold your breathe though, I am notoriously slow). :)

Oh this sounds good. My favourite for a new paper model would be a Z-95 Head Hunter from the Star Wars Universe.

But now back to the actual build. Here the last pictures.
