HALO Automatic

The next build was decided by my grandson, who liked my Colt M-1911 Auto. This version is designed by rocketmantan, over at Deviant art. http://www.deviantart.com/art/Halo-M6D-Pistol-Papercraft-Replica-395628443 His model is very basic and if built as is, it will not stand up to constant handling. I built it up with heavy lamination and added more items to make it a little more realistic. The gun at this posting is finished and the next item to build, will be the magazine, bullets and some kind of display. here is a teaser as to where it is at and I will start the build thread soon.

Wow, that is INSANE! You weren't lying when you said I'd be 'pleased' with the results...though I'd have to say that 'pleased' is more than an understatement. This is easily one of the best builds of my models I've ever seen; if not the best. Can't wait for the build report!

Thanks for looking in Rocketman. To all who look in to this thread, keep in mind that this model is free and do not go to ALICE and pay for it. It is freely given to the community by rocketmantan http://rocketmantan.deviantart.com/

So here is the first installment on the build thread. The beginning does not look like much but the changes to the model are apparent. I wanted this model to be able to withstand kid power. enjoy and see you all soon with more.

Silver, you have done a remarkable job! At first I couldn't believe that this was a paper model! I really thought it was a picture of a real prop! EXCELLENT BUILD and AWESOME TEMPLATE, RMT! :)

Thanks again for the likes,

Here is another batch. As you can make out from the template/plans/diagrams. the upper and lower receivers have been cut apart and made into two separate build sections. That nose muzzle has a slight curve to it and the inside support had a notch cut into the bend before the skin was added. If this is not done, the muzzle nose will have a hard time staying in place. Enjoy and see you all soon with more. One item I did not circle in the photos, is that I cut away a section of the upper receiver to accommodate the Muzzle cover.

The gun is finished and my grandson wants it now, but I will make a stand for it for those of you who may want to display it.

I like how you are making this as "functional" and "realistic" looking as possible.

How about a full scale human like rubber skinned Lilla Jojovich model? ( add about 7 lbs. lbs to her bottom side, topside just fine! :)

Photo strictly for reference.

Have you ever thought about making movie props?;)
Seeing you work like this, it really makes me wonder if you are in the wrong line of work! ;)

I have been to a movie prop studio and believe me, the work that they do is very intimidating. I stand in awe at some of the work that is done in the series "Face Off". A few of them are mediocre but many of them are masters. I subscribe also to resin illuminati for this reason, they also have some great prop builders and I learn from them as well. Thanks for your words of encouragement, but I like to do it for my self gratification and to inspire others to do their best.

Like Rhaven Blaack said... Your build threads on here push me and countless others to try and take our own builds to the next level. Your work on these is just amazing.

Thanks guys. With every build thread made by the members here, everyone learns something new. If my build threads and techniques help others, then it is worth the effort.

Here is the next batch of photos, this time on the cocking handle for the upper receiver.
