X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Has anyone has seen the new X-Men: Days Of Future Past?

I saw the movie this afternoon at my local theater. Its an old theater that is mostly ran by volunteers. The theater had been closed for six months for a digital upgrade (new screen, speakers, etc.). X-Men: Days Of Future Past is the first movie to played on the new screen. The ad in the newspaper said it was suppose to be in 3D for the 2pm show, but I found out when I arrived that it was only in 2D. I have never seen a movie in Real 3D, so I was slightly disappointed. Overall, I loved the film, though I did miss several minutes due to the fact I had to keep running to the restroom, probably because of the horrible popcorn. It had way too much butter and way too much salt on it, which wasn't my fault, as the popcorn was already pre-soaked.

So in essence, with all those special effects on the screen they add some "special effects" to the popcorn to make you buy another ticket to boost the box-office returns! :D

I haven't seen the movie here at my place yet but I surely will. I love the first one, the soundtrack blew me away, Michael Fassbender was excellent (as always) and the U-boat lift sequence made me speechless. OK, I knew that it was totally disobeying the laws of physics, but the way it was presented turned it into an unforgettable moment which I enjoyed over and over again on DVD. :)

I saw it a few weeks ago. It was GREAT! The acting was spectacular, the story was amazing, and overall just blew me away.

@Revell-Fan the soundtrack for this one is nothing special. It had a few parts of the X2 theme, but was otherwise fairly forgettable.

The film has some big differences compared to the original comic book it is supposed to be inspired on. So big that it is almost a different story.

I would rather there be special effects on the big screen and not in my popcorn.

If you thought the u-boat was defying physics, just wait until you see what Magneto lifts in this film.

Besides from a few continuity problems (all X-Men sequels/prequels have continuity problems), the movie was great, though I didn't pay much attention to the theme.

since the days of jack Kirby and the fantastic four comic, they have made more interesting recounts of the original stories. instead of being disappointed or frustrated, I add these individuals to my collection and wait to see what new and exciting thing they do next.

I have never read the comic books, so I don't know what was changed for the movie.
In the comics, it was Kitty Pride's mind that was sent back in time using a modified version of cerebro. I felt that it was a necessary change, as Kitty's character hasn't really been important enough in the films to warrant a movie with her as the main character.

There are often changes like that; see "The Walking Dead" for example (one word: Andrea).

I didn't mind the changes from the original story. It kept me on the edge of my seat more this way, as I didn't know what to expect from having read the comic story. I really liked their use of both the future timeline and the past timeline together, as that showed viewers exactly what was at stake here if they failed.

It is said that this might be one of the last occasions we see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He himself said you should stop when you had reached a hiatus. :(

From what I have seen, he plans to stay for the third and final Wolverine solo film and the next X-Men film: X-men apocalypse. I'd miss seeing him as the character, but I think that it would do this franchise quite a bit of good to lose him, as they could then spend time making more developed, likable, and most of all recognizable characters for the films to be about. I'm a big fan of ALL of the X-Men and Wolverine films, (even Last Stand and Origins) but I've always thought that they were too Wolverine-centric. I'd like to see more Cyclops, Jean Grey, (non-phoenix) Storm, Professor X, Kitty Pride, and Nightcrawler. I also want to see more mutants (Gambit *cough *cough) added and Rogue done correctly (that is, with her powers of flight and super-strength, and not just the no-touchy part of her powers)

I saw online somewhere that there was a large portion of the film removed to shorten the runtime by 20-ish minutes.

The scenes were set in the future world and involved Xavier and (possibly) some other mutants going to the X-Mansion, which had been converted by the sentinels into a prison camp, to rescue Rogue. Rogue than uses her ability to take Kitty's powers so that she can give Kitty a rest by taking her place with Wolverine

Well, you can pick up such massive structures and stand on a surface that your car would leave deep tire marks in, and the grass doesn't bend, there is so much that is fantasy, you realize, it's fantasy! Then you drink a beer, and try to suppress the thoughts ever 3 seconds or so. :)

I was happy with the story. I remember the plot in the Last Stand really upset me at the time, but only because I thought that actual film was substandard. This one however, despite changes and alterations etc. was strong.

Regard the OP watching it in 2D, like most of these films, the 3D didn't make that much of a difference. Personally I find 3D is only worth it for films that have really been made to make the most of the technology. Avatar for instance, or Pirahna.

well, we already got the commix. I like the reprints of old commix marvel does, in 'marvel tales'? I wouldn't object to that kind of thing to fi in the gaps, using movies. having the movies be different than the graphic novels is hard. but I like it too, we get to see new stuff. another story. I hated star trek into darkness because of obvious spoilers. I really didn't want to pay to see a spy movie with role reversals on the same old story and then these long distance travelings that make ships unimportant. I was kind of hoping for a new story, and leave Nimoy out next time, let him rest for gods sake. this cast can do it on their own. I hope they go with a mirror universe and they have to fight a doomsday machine. lots of Klingons and romulans and new ideas and plot lines, please. as far as Xmen goes, there are so many big stories that were popular, they could do ten movies and still never run out of big thrilling films.

@spaceagent-9 the next movie will be based on the comic saga X-Men: Apocalypse

I liked the changes from the original source material, too. I feel that it helps, as it keeps both fans of the movies and those who have already read the comics on the edge of their seats.

I haven't seen the movie yet, had my doubts after the stand-alone Wolverine, which was pretty disapointing (cutting the claws off? adamantium meets adamantium = unbreakable vs unbreakable, therefore shouldn't break). But, after reading the posts here I will definatley give it a view.
