Thanks everyone for all the +ve feedback - it's all greatly appreciated!
Today's work has been the building of the last warbird; I've already covered that in "The Defector" log, so I'll skip it here. The rest has been scraping and nicking fibre optics - not really worthy of a photo log .

There is a bit of difference in the building of the last warbird...
I've punched holes through the location of the torpedo launchers:-

and through the layer beneath. I then threaded fibre optic filaments (of enough length to reach the LED at the rear of the box) through these holes so that they'll project from the rear of the ship:-

I didn't know that those were photorp launchers. interesting. makes sense though.

@spaceagent-9 I got the info from a schematic on L-Cars, although it's kinda hard to tell if I'm at the right spot - they could be disruptors

The upper wing was completed with two filaments for torpedoes and one for the front disruptor threaded through:-

I punched a hole through the top of the head and cut a notch where the filament should exit at the front:-

Meanwhile, in the TNG time, I've mounted the other two bop's and added filaments to them which I've threaded through the Ent-D's shield and out the back of the box. These are a couple of preliminary pics - the filaments still have to be tightened and blackened from the shield to the box wall:-

A very slight transverse scrape with sandpaper is enough to turn the filaments into a beam. For the torpedoes I glued 2mm green, bicone beads over nicks in the filament.

I REALLY LIKE your technique in using the fiber optics to making phaser and photon fire (Any energy weapons fire for that matter) work in such a diorama!
These "Special effects" really make the whole project POP!!!

The fibre optics get sent to me in a coil and straightening them is a nightmare! I've done what I can and this is the result:-

The shield is a section taken from the packing of an Asterix The Gaul flash drive. I didn't want to stick the fibre optics to welding rods with these really small birds of prey because-
1. they'd be really obvious
2. their weight drags everything out of position and
3. there was no way for me to glue them in situ.

And finally, the Ent-C returning to Narendra III:-

This one takes a total of six lithium cells to power all the LEDs. I suppose I could've used the mains adapter from the Wolf 359 diorama, but that would've needed a lot more wire than I have available at the mo'.

I was hoping to have a go at the battle of Azanti Prime. Unfortunately I can't find any ortho's for the Xindi Reptilian warships so that's put the kaibosh on that idea! Another thought was the destruction of the USS Pasteur in "All Good Things". I'll need to refind the converted Ent-D first. I'd just like to try something that involves building different ships and I haven't built a vor'cha yet. The globe on the Pasteur would probably be a bit too small though; even for me...

the enterprise d-a with a red rod lit up blasting thru that Klingon with a damaged Pasteur would look just too cool!!!!! I bet D whale would know where to get the enterprise. I think jbats toybox has one. this diorama looks so awesome!!!!you really outdid your self with all this work! wheres the video link?!?!?!

@spaceagent-9 lol I need some sound effects and a bigger memory card for this one . Many thanks for the complimentary comments . Jay's Enterprise has a hexagonal design that I just don't like. I know I've seen a 3-nacelled Ent-D somewhere! It's just a matter of finding it again...

another beautiful one on its way! I still think I have a deep impression of the 3 Klingons in star trek the motion picture firing a torpedo at the cloud. the back ground, the probe, the first new look at the Klingons I don't know why but it really gave me a sense of special effects. I really love it so much and also the romulan bird of prey from balance of terror. the D was good, but it seemed akward to me at first. the excelsior fit right in as did the kbop. the B also filled the gap in just right. just gabbing now I guess I am overly tired. I really like the nebula class and if it had a long cannon as the stargazer has I would really think it should be the next class up. and the stargazer I liked to, but the tos version is my favorite, due to the nacelle globes spinning x4 . the three Klingons still win hands down as far as grandeur goes. of course the refit 1701 in the first movie was grand, but only if pearlescent white and with a aquablue energy color. capt. jim signing off. lol.

It is "Azati Prime" . As for the Pasteur, try to find a matching wooden sphere or something like that. There is a converted D available from Jaybats (it should be in the resource section; it comes with the regular D kit. The model is very angled but you may use the pattern to make your own).

As for BIG battles I suggest the following: The Klingon invasion on DS9 at the end of "Way of the Warrior", te pre-emptive strike of the Cardassians and Romulans on the founders' home world, the Cardassian / Dominion fleet conquering DS9, the final battle to reconquer the station (involving Cardassians, Starfleet, Dominion and Klingon) and the battle at Chintoka.

(my favourite scenes are at 1:52 and 5:24)

@Revell-Fan Oops! Dunno where that 'n' came from... . And they're not vor'chas in "All Good Things" either . That's OK though, because I've not built a negh'var yet. And I get to blow one into a gazillion bits . I'm opting for "All Good Things" next since I'd already started the research and downloading for it (including both versions of the upgraded Ent-D). However, I reckon the Pasteur's globe isn't going to be much more than 1/4" in diameter so I might have to fall back on the Dominion battles a bit sooner than I expected .

linwseregon, may I give you some advice on wiring. Take a piece of long wire, thing wire, and tire it securely around an immoveable post. Attach the other end on a piece of wood around an inch in diameter (strong wood) and make sure that end is as secure. Start gently (do this with around 6 feet of wire, if you can), then star to slowly but firmly pull back very very steady but very hard, you will feel the wire all of a sudden "give", continue pulling, till it stops "giving", but don't try to break it. You have just done is hardened the wire, and it will be very stiff, and far more useful in your dioramas. it would allow you to use a thinner gauge wire, yet it would not bend. This was how we made the posts for the little flags that drop down on older aircraft instrumentation to show the gauge is no longer working, or was "Off", for whatever reason. The post that held the "Warning Flag" was mounted to the segments we cut from the wire we hardened by pulling.

Beautiful, creative, genius at work modeling, by the way!

@zathros Many, many thanks - both for the compliment and the tip . I'll try the tightening with some wire from defunct headphones - the only other wire I currently have access to is only 6" long...

if you can find any kind of old computer, laptop, notepad, etc, they have very thin ribbon wire. you can peel off two at a time from the ribbon, and also cut to length, its very convenient. I burn off the ends with a lighter and pull off the melted part, when I want to make a connection. that way I don't break off the tiny strands of wire inside.

I thought of a scene for your k'vorcha diorama,
didn't the ds9 defiant tractor beam a k'vorcha and fling it out to escape a aft attack from one?
that should look cool with saran wrap or cotton being the tractor beams.

I think that saran wrap ( stretched as tightly as possible without it warping) would look the best, as it would just appear to be a slight "disturbance"
