Skyrim - Galleon "Katariah"

Alright, so I'll probably start my series of "designer" models after this or one more model. For now, I've decided to do another Elder Scrolls-themed paper model. This time, however, it's not a prop replica, but rather a scale model.
Being an Imperial loyalist since my second playthrough, I've decided to model the Katariah, the flagship of the Tamrielic Empire.

Modeling the ship was pretty hard, mostly because, well, obviously the in-game model was designed for gameplay purposes as opposed to technical accuracy, so a lot of details are left out and/or just plain wrong. I've decided to keep the model faithful to the in-game model, for canonical reasons, and for the fact that I don't have sufficient marine engineering knowledge (I'm pursuing a deck license, after all ;)). I think the only deviations I made were in regards to the spanker.

I just finished drawing up the parts, and will start building either tomorrow or the day after. For now, have some pictures:

This looks like it will be an interesting deviation from your normal prop work.
Even though I have never played the game (and (sorry to say) I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the game), I will be keeping an eye on this project!

X2. I always feel out of touch when people make models like this, get the accolades they deserve, but I am left clueless! You have quite a legacy of models behind you now. Quite amazing. Your German glider model is on websites all around the world! :)

Great Work! I always wonder how you manage to draw up all of these parts without the use of 3D Modeling Software

Thanks guys :) You guys have always been very supportive of me from the get go, and I certainly wouldn't be the designer I am today were it not for this forum. I might to a farewell post or something when I leave in august, if you guys want (and if it wouldn't seem too pretentious of me;)).

I just got home, so I think I'll start the testbuild in an hour or so!

This is looking great! We'll certainly miss you

Don't worry, I'll probably still poke around every now and then, but since I'll be attending the Merchant Marine Academy, I probably won't have as much time as I currently do to devote to designing big models. Hopefully, if I do have enough time, I might still do the odd project every now and then :p

But for now, here's the beginnings of the ship. She'll look better, I promise! (I hope...)

I am very happy for you and wish you all the success in your new adventure with the Merchant Marines.
By all means, please stay in contact (even if it is to pop in and post a photo or two of where you are or what you are doing).
Like Zathros said, please let us give you a proper "SEND OFF"!

As for the ship you are building, you are off to a GREAT start.

Thank you very much for you gift. I am planning on building it in the future but if you know the way I build, I may do some modifications to it and work up the smaller details. One thing about the academy, is that they make you think out of the box and put your math skills to the test. Enjoy and "Acta non verba"

I can't wait to see what modifications you'll make to it! I design my models with a certain amount of leeway so builders like you can add in your own details and make the model truly unique.

Loyalty, Valor, Acta Non Verba.
