Need to get some white board and lights because the models get a green cast if the light hits wrong.
This is called "green spill". Back in the old days the VFX technicians had to deal with "blue spill" (because of the blue background); it destroyed the mattes used to extract the model from the background. The reflection was even more irritating when the model was coloured in glossy or metallic colours. This is the reason why nearly all studio miniatures used for Star Wars, BSG, Buck etc. were painted with a matt varnish.

Old school special effects - love it. This whole project is on the fly so instead of suspending the models and setting lights they are laying right on the board which makes it even worse, unless it's outside and overcast then it works well. I'm trying not to Photoshop the models too much because I want it to be "obvious" they're just paper, but some effects seem to work (running lights, blurs, etc.).

The whole "Moments Before" thing is me trying to capture some of those things we didn't see on camera, but future ones will be all over the place. It just reminds me how little we actually saw onscreen of the TOS universe. With all that untapped potential (other starships, underused aliens, unseen conflicts) it's amazing we don't get more great Star Trek. Cudos to the web-film makers, Phase 2, Star Trek Continues, Starship Farragut, etc., who continue to play in that sandbox.

Thanks guys. Glad you are liking them.

Klingon Fleet? Although 14 tiny D-7s are out of the question, I have a scaled K'tinga, Klingon Scout, Romulan BOP, several more TOS ships of various classes, several familiar post-TOS scaled ships (including the smallest Oberth I've ever seen:curse:) and some fan-favorite enemy ships in the dockyards to build. I could very well be doing this picture thing longer than the show was on! Maybe I should have called this Season 4.sign1

Here's a new pic. Steering into some things we never saw that I think would have looked awesome. In ST:TMP, V'Ger zapped Epsilon 9 into its memory banks. That makes me think there were probably Epsilons 1-8 at least, so what happened to them? Here's my idea for one station featuring a ship I wish we'd seen because, for some reason, I love the name.

Incredible. Just like a shot from the show! (They should have hired YOU to make the remastered version! ;-) )

THAT I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO SEE!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:
Just wait until the new cockpit interior is released before you build it though. the end result will look more "CANON".
I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!!!

The CI which is out there gives you the parts to make the interior of the 1:1 mock-up. The new one is designed to display the interior of the filming miniature which is far more detailed and advanced. :thumb:

Rhaven, you know I'm going to need a Hatchet Fighter model to do those pictures justice. Any ideas? angel
