U.S.S. Nostromo /AD + Mira =skoda/ Beta

I bought this model almost as soon as Halcyon released it. It's not a brilliant kit but it certainly scratched a serious itch I had at the time. Unfortunately after several house moves the thing is in a pathetically sorry state. I really should try to kit bash some spare parts and repair the thing but somehow I never seem to find the time.

I had never dared to imagine that somebody might attempt this wonderful ship in card so I'm going to be glued (no pun intended) to this thread.

Brownie points to you for having the courage to tackle something as complex and awesome as the nostromo. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this one and how it turns out.

Right now I am wondering what's more thrilling - watching "Alien" or watching this thread!

What a calm, serene person you must be. I would go nuts cutting all that stuff out! Extremely impressive. :)

I believe that per definition all modelers are calm persons. Who else can spend hours cutting and glueing paper, just for the satisfaction of him or herself, a few family members and friends and some soulmates on an internet forum ?

Paradoxes...

I must confess. I'm not a calm person, and that's EXACTLY why I'm into this: to practice my calm and enhance observation and manual skills. I have to be a more patient, tolerant man. angel
So far this is what I've accomplished: devil

I will second that statement. sign1

People that know me are completely amazed that I can do this hobby.
They do not understand that this 'Grumpy Old Man,' (who has a temperance length of about 12 microns, who loses it so often that it is suggested that I start and manage a 'Temper Orphanage', who still has a fully functional keyboard after 5 years of (ab)use, who will not tolerate ANY human interaction until after the first morning coffee, etc, :crash: etc, devil etc, :curse: etc ...................,) can sit for hours/weeks/months sticking tiny little bits of coloured paper together, without creating another lost orphan, on a regular basis.

I have found paper modelling to be therapeutic. It calms me. I shut out the real world when I build.
And what is it that de-stresses me the most? It is knowing that if a FUBAR situation arises, it is only I that has created it!!!! What happens in my little paper world, I control completely, with every fold, score, cut and bond that I perform. Apart from the occasional reality checks like: a cat-on-the-cutting-mat, empty beer bottles, 'where the (enter expletive here) is my lighter????' and of course, 'THE SPOUSE', there are no external influences that directly affects my little paper world.

Only I, am King! sign1sign1
