thank you, as with most fans, I have wanted the nacelles to spin with the right kind of effect since 1967. I used rotating amber leds, and a faceted diamond like with drawer knobs...... to get the bounce lighting right, on a ping pong ball like push molded half globe.

Nicely done. Did you use a lighting kit, or did you make up your own ???

I bet a few people on here would love to see a wiring diagram of that setup......

I plan on doing this model and lighting her too... One day......

Nice work!:thumb:

radio shack sells a chaser light kit, rainbow electronics does too, just change the leds from red to orange/amber
and those drawer knobs work great as a diamond shaped panel light faceted stripe rotator effect.
you can also get a blinker driver led for the running lights.
I would just go ahead and make a black paper sealed light box with holes that match up to the window. you can invert colors the image on the window sections , cut an dpaste them onto one sheet and then print them onto black card stock so they match up. its a lot easer than fiber optics or sealing the whole ship for light leaks. metal foil works pretty good, but doesn't stop all the light leaks as you can tell on the bottom saucer third ring join around the middle center.
I also press molded the domes and used clear dead leds for the running lights on the bottom ,with a red led blinker driving white leds and on the top I used dead red and green leds, with a light box and the white blinking ones inside, holes in the top and bottom of the light box.

aw its nuthin!
those drawer knobs work great as light refractors.
on the abrams 1701, it actually looks like lightening bolts going around. the video doesn't really quite show how great that looks.
just lucked out I guess.
check out blinkylites.com for stuff that you can use for lighting effects.

that's Ron Caulido's original version, I simply made it about 2 feet long
contact zathros or silveroxide and I will see about getting you a copy thru them. it might even be here, I know its on the same site as the lost in space free robot. im terrible at names.
so ask them, they will know.

That is a beautiful job, I appreciate you building it and making it so much better! Please feel free to distribute any modifications/enhancements to my original model design.

I really love what people do to enhance the models.

;thank you Ron For showing up and with your correct name. I hate myself sometimes not remembering my hero's names.
I was just coming in to correct that and seeing you post here is great.

Ron has made the tos bridge,
the enterprise
the lost in space pod
and many many other brilliant models, and has got to be front in line in the paper modeling hall of fame.
one of my very first models was the tos enterprise. I had no skills in paper models and when I finished Ron's model I felt great. it looked pretty good and was encouraging to keep me paper modeling.
I could go on and on about these inspiring builder and creators like Ron.
but I don't have enough feet for my mouth, so I will just end with a
thanks to all of you!

No worries Jim,
You don't go through life with a name like Caudillo and not hear it hacked up a lot! Telemarketers are a hoot!

And then there was this time where my wife was invited to a squardon function where I was awarded somthing. She corrected my squardon commander in front of everyone after he mis-pronounced my name!! Boy was I embarrased. Luckily, our commader was good natured and took it in stride.

Best Regards and good building!!!!! (love your stuff too!)

Do you think you will try the Rawen enterprise A? I believe it is in 1:400 scale, so you would have to print it at around 80% for it to be to scale to your two foot TOS enterprise... OHMYGOSH! I had an idea... START A 1/500 SCALE STAR TREK FLEET. It would be so amazing!
