Hello, fans!

This is a small update on the hangar bay. The first picture shows which parts have been unfolded, the next give you a first glance at the texture for the modules. The walls are so big that the sides had to be chopped into three parts so that they can be printed. To give you an idea of how big they are please take a look at the attached *.pdf which shows one half of the BIG door in the final size.

The next parts to be dealt with are the launch bay door and the launch bay. Stay tuned!

I hope that you get over your cold soon. Home made Chicken soup does the trick for me.
Get better soon.

Small update

I have traced the tool room door and found another error in the hangar bay plans. The frame of the door is not wide enough which leads to a revision of the hangar bay wall element. On a sidenote, the door is big enough to become a paper model of its own ;-) . I have attached the traced pattern.

Wow. I've been off busy with work for a while, and now this? This looks like a whole world of fun. Teeny tiny models are cute, but it's too hard to see myself in those little ships.
Now this is a fun scale!:thumb:

A small update: The picture shows the areas which have been unfolded and textured by now. I'm now tackling the floor.

Mmmmmmmm.....:thumb:

When you have finished this project, I am going to down-scale it to 1/50 to match UHU02's Vipers' scale.
My plan is to build two Vipers, one with full interior, one without. I want to make up a diorama with the two models similar to the pictures of the X-Wing that UHU02's friend has built, but combining them into one diorama..

I think that your Hanger Bay model (or at least parts of it,) will be used for that!!!!!

I have built a hangar a while back. At the time I did mine, there was not enough info or reference on it. Now, there is a ton of references and I may do a portion of the hangar bay for my UHU Viper. I will definitely be looking at your work in this area for building and for references. Keep up the good work and see you around the forum.

@Dan: I have returned to this project for exactly that resaon. I'm preparing a part of the bay consisting of the complete repair bay including the tool room, the red door on the left and a part of the floor. I'm doing it in 1:32 scale to push the original project forward but will rescale everything to 1:50.

@silveroxide: Thank you very much!

Cool!!!!! Are you making everything modular ???????

I know it may not follow the film set layout exactly, but with my own added artistic licence, I want to create a diorama that is in a corner of a (fictional) hanger bay, with a similar configuration to yours.
With one ship in full skin (Apollo's) and one in repair (Starbuck's as usual...)

If everything was modular in the model hanger parts, they could be set up in various configurations.........

Or, otherwise I will just hack into your 1/50 version with my trusty knife and scalpel.......

Whatever happens, with the fantastic UHU02 :inw: Viper(s) and your hanger bay, however we do our individual dioramas, they are gonna be one hell of a display to be proud of!!!!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

In principle the small one will be modular like the big one. I have been thinking about using magnets on the big one for fast assembly and disassembly but I don't know if I have the time to test that on the small one. At the current state of development the basic set consists of

1x big wall with red door
1x tool room
1x broken / interrupted wall element
1x regular wall element
1x long catwalk
approx. 1/3 of the floor.

You will be able to build either the entire repair bay area or extend it according to your needs to make the hangar half a mile long. The only thing you would have to alter when you deviate from the standard configuration would be the markings on the floor (which tell you where the single elements go), but that shouldn't be a big problem.

In the end it should look like in this screenshot from "Flight of the Phoenix":

001.jpg

Red door & tool room on the left, repair bay, broken wall & catwalk in the middle, regular wall on the right plus floor.
