I bow to you...

Rogerio my friend,
You did very well on this model and should be very happy with your results.

I'm glad you are having fun with this hobby, that's what it is all about. It's good to see you designing too. You will learn a lot in a shory time. I'm looking forward to seing the Groizer X built.

Best Regards,

Ron

Thank you for the kind words, you're one of the Masters I look up to. Your work is one of the reasons I got into this, and I couldn't be happier.
About the Space Pirate (Groizer X), I think I'll be ahead of schedule, which makes me feel very good, for I announced about two months ago that it would take me a year to complete the task.
With the support and encouragement I have found here, I can say that I'll be up to the challenge. Let's make it happen!
Thank you very much,

Rogério

Olá, Marcelo, vejo que você está no Brasil! Hello, Marcelo, I see that you're in Brazil! It's great to see that our country is well represented here. :thumb::cool: Sorry for not writing in Portuguese, but it's this forum's policy, we we have to obey the rules. If you want to exchange messages in Portuguese, please feel free to PM me, it'll be my pleasure.:thumb:
When I started this thread I was so worried about not ruining the fantastic work of the GREAT MASTER UHU02:inw:, that I forgot the main thing about this hobby: TO HAVE FUN! I was kindly reminded of that by a good friend, with some more years of experience and a lot of wonderful works to show. It was hard to finish the model, but, as I tell my kids, HARD IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE!
The picture of your model shows you're having a little trouble with the disc, which I insist to call "saucer section"... If I may offer a piece of advice, try doing it in parts, not closing the disc all at once, but in steps of 10 to 30 degrees. You'll be able to have more control on the closing process, thus reducing errors.
Changing the subject, do you remember Groizer X? In Brazil, it was a cartoon called "O Pirata do Espaço" (the Space Pirate), back in the 80s. I couldn't find any paper model of it, so I decided to do one myself. I learned to model and, with a little help from my friends,:thumb::cool: am finishing the touch-ups to go to unfolding and alpha building it.
Why did I say that? Not to do some advertisement about my model, but to tell you that ZEALOT is the best place you could find to get help in this hobby, as well as others.
And remember: IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN!
Tudo de bom - All the best,

Rogério

Olá Rogério

Thanks for kind words and incentive. And happy for a Brazilian too.

About my model, I had to disassemble to re-build this disc, and part is my fault, I think it was fast to cut, and glue not work very well, I used school glue , but I think is not good option. And used 180g paper printing.

What is the best glue to use?

Hey!

Well, I came to the conclusion that the common white glue is not the best choice. So I use the transparent PVA glue, or as we call in Brazil, styrofoam glue (cola de isopor, in Portuguese). That's the best one for me so far, but you have to take care, because it's a bit messy.
Use small portions and, if you do not use tabs anymore, use a toothpick or maybe the tip of tweezers to spread it.
If I could help you, then I'm glad!:thumb:
See ya!

Considering the position of my lower jaw, I'd say this is a jaw-dropper!

Excellent build, man! I'll have to try this one out sometime. :thumb:

Yes it's a great build and model.
I agree with you and want to build it to sometime, it's just the "sometime" part that's in the way with so many great models out there.

Cheers,
Elko

PS
Typing this on a tablet, took me ten minutes.....ugh.

Wow! You did a great job on this model. I tried to make it after I saw Into Darkness, but it was just way beyond my level of skill and patience. Your , model does justice to JJs iPrise!
When I tired this, one problem was that I couldn't get the Bussard collectors (blue domes at the front of the nacelles) to fit into place. Did you have any trouble with this?
PS your final model has inspired me to consider giving this model another try!

First, thank you for visiting! On the Bussard collectors, yes, my friend, I had to trim them, otherwise, they wouldn't fit. I posted a comment about it in this thread (http://www.zealot.com/forum/showpost.php?p=961109&postcount=109).
In order to encourage you, this thread was actually THE SECOND TIME I tried to build this model. And I chose to do it without the glueing tabs, to have a better look of the model, which made it more difficult. But it was worth it!
It took me three weeks to build it, and I had an incident in the middle of the road, but my friends here helped me out, and everything was fine. Anyway, as I always say: IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN!!! I'm really far from being a genious, and even farther from being an artist. My skills are improving, yes, and so will yours; practice makes perfect.
Let's not forget the man who made it possible: UHU02!!! That's a genious, an artist, and a very "good-heart" man, who shares his art with us for nothing. That's why we have a absolutely well-deserved appreciation thread for him.
All the best,

Rogério

She looks great Rogerio. I might stiffen up the saucer section by laminating on the inside. Great job! :)

I do ALWAYS listen to Zathros

Thanks, Zathros! I thought about that, but got affraid the weight might cause the model to lose some balance. I thought that the inner formers designed by the GREAT UHU02 were good enough, but that was my opinion.
Thanks for visiting!

The inner formers should be good enough, if there are enough of them. If the saucer section is too thin, then it will show the formers eventually. It looks great though and should be fine if yo used the proper thickness paper. I tend to overbuild a model, but then again, it was because I had an 8 year old playing with them! :)

You built is amazing :) looks beautiful.
I heard of butt-gluing.I think i will try it on a small portion first.

Walid

Thanks for visiting! UHU02's models are not for the faint of heart, and I tried to build this before... And I failed miserably...
I'd like to suggest that you do some tests with butt-glueing BEFORE you begin this model, and once you're happy with your results, then GO FOR IT!
All the best,

Rogério
