Just a bit more to finish the tyre sequence. This is the most tedious part of the build and it is mostly because there are 4 wheels to make. If I were to have made this out of styrene, I would have made one wheel and casted the other one.

The reason why there are so little comments coming in lately is that we all have been rendered speechless, silver...

There are only so many ways to say "WOW you are The Master of this APC build, we are all in awe"
Having said that, the work you put into these builds is phenomenal.

Just as long as the members take a peek and learn something is okay with me.

Thanks, As mentioned earlier, this thread has put out more of my build procedures than any other model I have done, and there is still more to come.

It's hard to make comments when I'm still trying to keep my mouth shut. My jaw has dropped!

Carefully pick your jaw up, and next time, support your chin with your cupped hand, elbow on the table. This method should help to stabilize the jaw.sign1

indeed, i am totally speechless , that is an awesome apc silver :)

Thanks for looking in and making your kind comment, but there is still some more stuff cooking in my mind.

And now for the wheel attachment and the steering. I made some clamps for the steering dowel and the shock absorbers also have a function other than looking good. they help in holding the steering clamps in place. The hardest part, belive it, was the thin strip around the wheel shields. the strip is extra thin and very fragile. the first attempt frayed at the ends and I had to revert to using the toe clipper for a sharp cut without the unraveling.

As of the moent, I have made the rail system and it works, Now I have to play around with the gun turret to make it swivel. So far so good and I am almost done but I still have a few more postings to do.:thumb:

Seeing is believing it...

After carefully picking up my jaw, I started typing very slowly (one hand only, the other is holding my chin!)... You wrote you have something else cooking in your mind??? What???
I see... You're gonna make the lights, both inside and outside ones, light panels randomly blink, and steering wheels that move in pairs... But remember the movie: the rear wheels did also turn, in order to make sharper curves...
WHAT A COOL WORK, but I do want to see more! :inw:

That is awesome, love the trick with the steering

This thread will give an update on how it was done. I am about out of tricks of the trade.

As mentioned above, here is the process for making the steering.

Thanks for your comment, it keeps me going. Actually, there is enough empty space around the hull and the back area for those small flat batteries and the overhead also has space for micro lights. So that version is a do-able but unfortunately not this time. The way the wheels are connected, they can be posed in the double steering method.

Thanks, (Danke). I appreciate all comments from my fan club and I am glad that you are all enjoying the build thread.

So here is the process for making that steering possible. There is a way for making the wheels work in tandem with each other but since it has an interior, it is hard to make that steering linkage. I can still do it from the outside, but it would require an extra hollow panel under the hull for it. I actually drilled a hole for the steering linkage but it is not visible in the photos. I will probably finish with it in the next couple of days but not with the overall project. There are some details I have to work out with a possible diorama. I got some Tamiya figures and I have to prep them to make them look somewhat like the USCM (United States Colonial Marines) Enjoy and now to work n the top turret.

Thanks for your comments guys. The APC is finished other than some extra detailing, it is done. I may get back to it sometime in the future with a diorama set. I will be back soon with more photo updates for your pleasure. Even though I made it, I look at it and I cannot believe that it is paper. Enjoy and see you all soon.

Okay, I am back again with more updates. This session will be on the railing system. If I had made this model from styrene, I would have used the channels used in HO scale buildings and it would have been thinner. Because of the material in use, the railing is a tad more thick. The hollow carrier/truck would not have been viable if I wanted the slide to work. The truck is made from a piece of bass wood and the skin is the one from the plans. The wood truck can now accept the pins and the heads of the pins will simulate the bearing wheels. The head of the pins will slide inside the channel made from the laminated rails. The outside of the rails is further strengthen by gluing the channel to a piece of card stock. This method will help in the railing maintaining its shape during use and not de-laminating. The next session will be on the turret which I had to scratch build due to the one in the plans being to flimsy for constant use.

What? Man, get out of town! That's not possible... If I hadn't seen it, I would not believe it! AMAZING!

It gets better, I still have a few more tricks till the end.

Ingenious idea :thumb: I love it,

Thanks, I saw the idea in my mind and decided to see how it would work in reality.

great looking..
and nice working turrent you will get..

The turret came out great and it is coming next.

As mentioned earlier, The turret plans are too flimsy and it needs an internal support system. I used the plans as a reference and made an internal structure of thick laminated ribs. The skinning is made from 120lbs weight paper stock. That ring on the truck, helps to keep the turret on and helps the stability of the turret. The cannons are coming up next and see you all then.:thumb:
