That is a good start. It almost looks real.
Keep going like this, and you will have another studio quality model.
(which of course, would not be a bad thing at all.)

That looks nice! I am thinking about doing that ship in the next time, too, so it will ne interesting to watch your building process. How large is that container?

There are two versions of the model, a big one and a small one. The big one is apprx. 66 cm long, the small one apprx. 46 cm. The containers of the big one are 41.5 x 35 x 169.3 mm, the smaller ones are 29.3 x 24.7 x 119.6 mm. The original CG model from the ship pack team which I used for unfolding was very inaccurate; proportions were wrong and the Saturn V half cones in the middle were missing (there was only one in the whole model instead of five). I tweaked the model before unfolding, added the missing parts, revised the texture extensively (mainly the detailing of the doors of the containers) and stretched the containers and parts of the thruster so that they came closer to the real thing. In addition, I added new "decals" (as I did with the Gemini freighter) because the original ones were completely wrong and recessed the exhaust opening of the thruster. However, there are a few things which I didn't change because they were too subtle to be noticed. I think the original filming model still has a few more ribs on the containers and the couplings on the middle part should be a bit smaller, but that should be it. A few weeks ago I found new pictures of the ZOIC CG model on Lee Stringer's flickr page, including parallel views and detail shots. I have saved them to my HDD for a possible revision of this model.

As a little bonus I have added the templates for rectangular, hexagonal and round containers in the download package which can be textured individually to make a whole CM fleet along with some display options.

I guy's,

For your interest, I take the big verson and I print the pages on 11" x 17 " (tabloïd) size paper insted of 8½" x 11" (letter). So, It make my model 29% bigger. My model will have approx 85 cm long (33½"). With that size I can add more detail to my model .

I download the pictures of Lee Stringer's web site to help me add more details.

So are you going to have a squadron of small Vipers in one of the containers as a little added surprise?

:eek::eek::eek:

Holy frak! I built the big one on A4 paper and thought it was too big in the end... I'm watching your build with extreme anticipation. At this size you might get extremely close to the size of the actual studio model.

For the record: I've started a new version of Cloud 9 but it is on hold for the time being (too many projects, too less time..!). And now I'm too busy watching this build! :eek:ops:

You know that a large-scale TOS Battlestar is on my todo list?

I built Gearz's Galactica as my first ever paper model, a test bed, if you prefer. It was a fun build. Albeit an example of how not to do it!!:eek:ops:
I trashed the thing though, because it was an embarrassment to my modelling skills, which were very limited at that time. Hopefully I have improved a little since then....

Looking forwards to seeing your quality work on your version of this great ship!!!!:thumb::thumb:

The container looks really good, sign of a good design. Looking forward to the rest of the build. Your others looked great, I'm sure this one will to.

I'm currently building my colonial fleet and this one is working it's way up the pile. Now I'll have a reference model for comparison. I'd post pics of what I've done but both my laptop and backup drive died a week a part so I don't have access to the pics I took. Have to send them both out to recover the data argh :curse: wall1

Since I used to driver truck I've been toying with the idea of making one of the containers look like my old trailer, haven't decided yet.

Keep up the fantastic work...

Regards,
Rick
