Comparing UHU02 and IMCold X-wings . . .

Hmm this is kinda like comparing paintings by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci. Which is a better painting? Well, that all depends youngling- are you looking for something that is beautiful in it's simplicity, that just plain feels like it's been in battle and if you touch it you will get grime and carbon blackening on your hands? Or are you looking for something that is technical and clean, but accurate in other intangible ways, yet also beautiful and wonderfully realized and portrayed?

In such a comparison of artists, neither one can be accurately deemed better.

Having studied and worked as a graphic artist I can say that both are beautifully portrayed and reach a degree of artistic merit that amazes me. I know how long it takes to not only research the subject, but the artistic decisions that must be made, the compromises in order to portray your interpretation of the subject. I am floored by both of these artists. I hope that they both continue to practice their art.

hum....

I really don't care..
I love the Imcold xwing...i'm still proud i have one hanging on the wall.
it looks super, when you don't touch it, it looks like a prop replica. THAT great it is.

i'm still thinking about building the other one.

And the UHU's version Looks untill now nice..but you only can see the frame untill now.
I don't know if i would want that version hanging on my ceiling in a larger size.
i still have to see it finished.

BUT, i will save the files in my treasure stick next to the imcold xwing!

Just to let you guys know that I'm still around.

I know I'm not around much lately but it's just that my health is going a bit south at the moment. The meds help but not much, there are going to be some more tests, scans etc. to see if surgery might be worth the risks involved. They'll have to make an entrance in the back of my head to reposition some nerves. The downside is that I might loose either hearing or sence of feeling on one side of my face completely.
There are still other options regarding different medication but that's only painkilling realy, not a real solution to the problem.

I hope I'll be back on my feet soon but I have no idea when that will be.
In the meantime I keep reading the forums and try to keep on track with what's going on here (I've seen plenty of fantastic designs and builds to keep me motivated for when I can start modeling again.)

Btw my first ISD build died when a glass of soda washed away nearly all textures, looked artistic but not realy what I had in mind when I started.
My son was truly sorry so I'm only holding his pocket-money for three months  ...........naah just kidding :)

I wish you all the best I can think of and hope to join you again soon.

Cheers,

Elko

PS

Great to see you back Zathros, I don't have to know why you were away but it's sure good to see you back on the forums, I always enjoy your posts and comments.

And I thought I had problems. Seeing how you're dealing with all this is an inspiration for me. I believe there is a God, and he has a greater plan; we're not just peons, but His will will be done, whether we want it or not.
You don't have to believe it, but do believe that we, although afar from you, hope for the best.
Get well soon, my friend.

Hey guys,

Well here's the last update, well actually a downdate on this build of the ISD.

I started working on a new build of the ISD since my son spilled a glass of cola on the first one, the textures became realy abstract and free for any interpretation but it didn't look exactly acurate anymore :)

Regarding my healt, the doctors have found the culprit to the sudden worsening of my condition and found a working solution (huray!!!).
I'm still recouperating from the side-effects from the treatment but things get better by the day !!

Because of all the interuption and the loss of my first build I asked Rhaven Blaak if it's ok to start a new buildthread of my second ISD.
Another reason I asked was the fact that I'm using some different methods to build the main hull. When I start a new thread, people who also want to build this great model and want to use my method as a refference can find everyting related in one thread, without the sidetracking from the first buildthread.

All in all I will start a new buildthread soon with the first pictures.

Thanks guys for all your support and I hope to be more present at the forums from now on.

Cheers and all the best to all of you,
Elko

I am glad to hear that you are doing better and you are recovering well. Your health is the most important thing right now.

As for your new (restart) build of the ISD, I am looking forward to seeing it.

I don't know if I'm asking too much, but could you please post the link to your new thread, when you have it? Thanks!

Rogério
