Afternoon all. :)

Been away for a while but wanted to show a little model I started to work on over the past few days. I always liked this movie as a child and after watching it recently with my kids I got the urge to design it for card.

I'm not sure on final scale yet or even if it will have an interior?

Hey, glad to see you're back! Also glad to see you DOT car. Maybe 1/32 or 1/24 with no interior, and 1/18 or larger with one later?

Yeah maybe? I always did prefer bigger models. I was thinking about doing the textures for the 4 main cars of the movie too?

Thanks mate. ;)

For some reason, I've always loved this movie. To see you designing the Lumina from the Movie makes my heart all a flutter. The great thing is once you design the car, you can make different skins for the different main cars in the movie, as they were essentially the same car :) Good luck, i'll be following this thread :)

Exactly. Once it's all mapped then it's fairly simple to create new textures. I actually started the texure map for the pinky red and white Superflo car lastnight.

I still have the plastic models. Havent put them together yet though, waiting for my Son on that one. ;)

Would love to do a test build for ya :)

You do? I want them! LOL! :D

Of course mate, I always liked the challenge of design more than cardmodel building. I'm too messy.

Oh I do love to make things. I'm better at building with other materials though. Plastic, fiberglass, that kind of thing. I love card models but I have clumsy paws. :)

not so clumsy on a computer. Excellent Design. Do you think you could do the layout for a Dale Earnhardt Car? That's my Sports Hero, and would love to have a 1/18th (or so) sitting on my shelf

Your designs are excellent. Greatt job on the Decaling, it's damn near perfect.

The resolution is fairly high but even then it's a little pixelated up close. I hope to be able to sharpen those up though after unfolding if need be.

I know that name but if you post a few pics I may be able to help? Is it the same car??

Now you've mentioned the plastic kits I find myself hunting for a bargain on them. :)

Im always looking for a bargain on the plastic kits. Found a complete 1/100th U.S.S. Missouri for 20 buck at the swap meet. Only missing instructions, which i found online.

Here's the Dale Earnhardt #3 pics. and yes, it's the same car. his car was used as the race double for the movie. In fact, if you look, in some scenes, when it's supposed to be the #51 hero car in the lead, instead of a Black #51, you see a Black #3. ;) oops

Ah, So it's pretty much all identical except for the 51 and some other details? Cool. :)

Nice find on that kit. Every now and then I do search for the Days of Thunder car kits. Very hard to find in the UK at a good price. The ones from the US are better priced but the shipping sometimes is a killer.
