It's FINALLY printed, just not by my printer Razza Frazzin...wall1
Bought new ink carts and printed the test sheet, and the tan came out green ARGhhhhh wall1wall1

So... A run to Staples and $8.00USD later, I am now the proud owner of 8 11X17 sheets with the Actuall size A4 plans printed on them.

Up side, I get to finally start this build.
Down side, I can't use layering to greeble up the build.

Anywho... I'll post pics as the build progresses.

Hey Micah,
Sure you can - here's what I do sometimes.....Once you cut out the part you want, figure out what details you want to layer. Use a really fresh sharp blade and cut out the details you are going to layer, and set them aside. Take the main part with all the holes in it, and glue it down to a piece of thin cardstock - I do this with 3M permanent glue sticks, but use what ever method you like. Now form / fold / assemble as you normally would. Then take all the detail parts, glue them down to cereal box cardboard, cut them out and edge color them, and then glue them into the recesses they were cut out of. The thicker cardboard makes up for the fact that the part is going into a recess, so you don't loose any of the layering effect. And since you backed the original part with paper, you'll have a stronger model, and the detail parts won't fall through! It's a great way to save money on ink, and prints!

Hi, Micah! Good to know that you are tackling this one. This is truly one of the finest ships of the BSG fleet available (beside Colonial One); mine is sitting on my desk. I bow to the makers of the BSG ship pack. Great work. Even printed on letter size paper you'll get a superb display piece.

I was spoilt in the past, as (my now ex) girlfriend managed a small, but very well equipped print/copy shop. And due to relational bonds, of course it didn't cost me anything, even though I offered.... So, as a habit, I printed 2, sometimes 3 copies of the model, and also on different weights of paper. Then I was sure I was covered for mistakes, greebling, layering, etc.........:mrgreen:

But, that is why I love this Forum, because you learn something new everyday!

I'm glad you guys like the idea! It occured to me when I built a 1/35 scale enlargement of the 'Puddle Jumper' from Paperaviation.de. After I finished the model, I realized that there were a few places that needed three layers of detail, and at that point, I wasn't really in the mood to print a whole sheet for a couple of tiny pieces. So, I took a scalpel and cut out and peeled up the parts I needed to layer, and thankfully, I didn't ruin the finished surfaces. We learn from our mistakes, and usually mine are whoppers!

OK a quick update so y'all know I'm still on it. I'm in the middle of a 7 day work week... :-( so no off time till Sunday, but I did get all the pages clear coated and ready to cut out. found a big (36"X48")sheet if 1.5 MM card at Hobby Lobby for $4 USD so I can make plenty of raised panels now. I'll start cutting and glueing Sunday :thumb:

Awesome, and you're going to love building this model. Everything fits beautifully, a real winner. Just be careful with the parts around the side of the nose, pay attention to how they fold, check out pics of the raptor online. Not a criticism of the instructions, merely my confusion when I got to those parts. I was also in a hurry to have it done, you know, so I could zoom it around the room when no one was around.......

My son and me at his 3rd birthday party. We think he thought Boba Fett came to his party.

My frist steampunk costume. I won Best Men's costume. I think that it was my explanation as to why I should win it "Mrrr hrrrgr ruhrhrh grr mrrffrhrr . . . " After the lafter died down it was pretty obvious I had scored major points.

And lastly-

My LARP character- I made the aluminum chainmail, abs plastic lorica segmentata, complete abs articulated leg armor under the pleather boot covers, shirt, pleather jerkin, kilt, and latex covered foam swords.

Yeah, I'm a major geek.

Ok You win I never got into LARP I love D&D but the spells just don't work in LARP :-(
I have been kicked out of Rennisance Fair for having "real" swords and Armor I study Kendo, walkede up in full samurai gear...

Sounds like we're birds of a feather! While I never did get a chance to learn Kendo:-(, I did teach beginner fencing for 7 years. And I never got kicked out of a Renfest, but they did prevent me from going in with my broadsword. (But it matched my steel chainmail so WELL!) And though I've made several coifs, and a copple of hauberks from scratch I never did finish my JApanese armor- never could afford to get someone to make a Menpo for my Kabuto. :'(

Anyway- keep at the Raptor-we're dying to see it finished!
