The man knows me...

It's starting to come together realy nice Rogerio !!

The Nacelle looks real sharp and crisp.
I am certainly going to use your thread as a refference when I build Uhu's Enterprise.

But what's this ? :)

"... Or are you taking a well-deserved break? I think I'm gonna do that when I finish up this Enterprise... "

Naaaah you'r not gonna do that :)
Papercrafting is waaaay to much fun and there are so many fantastic models out there waiting for you to build them :)

I am realy anctious to see the final assembly of your Enterprise I'm sure it's gonna be a winner !!

Cheers,
Elko
You're right, ShadowHawk! Papercraft it too much addictive for me to get a break... Actually, papercraft IS my break!sign1

"Actually, papercraft IS my break!"

Exactly !!!

I couldn't take a breake even if they forced me to.
I can't spent as much time building as I want to but everytime when I get the chance I go for it.
It's the best modeling hobby I ever had, plastic was nice (and I did a real lot of it) but this is so much more satisfactory, building something from a simple sheet of paper out of the printer. So many more techniques to learn and master, no preshaped parts and so many way to get things done, and the result when things work out, ugh... I love it !

Cheers,
Elko

Anxious but cautious

Hi

I don't know about you, but when I'm about to finish up a model or a great part of it (like the nacelles, or the body, or the saucer), I tend to spped things up... I it usually puts me in dire straits...:curse:
That could be explaned by the eagerness to see it assembled at last, so I have to restrain myself, or it'll all go down the drain!
But enough talk. Here are todays pics... and comments, of course!
To build this piece, as many that have a circular seam, the best thing is to do it by segments. When it has a closing "top", I usually preffer to start by it and move downards, because if you make any mistakes, you can correct them on the next, lower ring. Works for me... And pre-shaping is essential!
One more thing: I have exchanged the tape (to reinforce the seams) for glued pieces of scrap paper, and the results seem better:thumb:

Elko buddy, you said it all... Right and precise as usual! Did I mention that I have visited your country? Well, I have visited many, being in the Navy...sign1
See ya!

Those are hard parts !!

Getting a nice round shape like that, take your time Rogerio, haste always results in a mess (at least from me).

Are you going to use waterpaint or something to get rid of the white cutting seams ?

You're doing great !!

Thanks, micah! You always have kind words... And what're you gonna do next? I like your work... Or are you taking a well-deserved break? I think I'm gonna do that when I finish up this Enterprise...
See ya!

I am printing out Revell Fans BSG Raptor. But I have to cut out A4 size from US ledger size (11 X 17").
Keep up the Great work on UHU02's J.J.prise :)

Aaaaaaargh!!!!!

OH, NO!
I have assembled the innermost part of the front nacelle, but because of some mistake I made, it just didn't fit. I was so careful, and just couldn't figure out what went wrong...
Nevertheless, I think I have found a way around it. I cut the border of the warp engine (piece #65) about 04mm (almost 3/16 of an inch, please, go for metric system!:p), and using uhu02's site pictures as reference, glued it. I think it was acceptable, considering...
Let's see. First, I would like to show you how I cut piece #66. It's so thin that I had to use (I don't know how you call it, we call it) French curves to help.

I'm surprised you were able to find my country, it's that small :)

Did you get any wooden shoes ? sign1
:mrgreen: I went to your country a VERY, VERY VERY, DEFINITELY VERY long time ago, back in 1990 (Gee, am I THAT old?). We were moored to Rotterdam (biggest harbour in the world!:thumb:), and I went to Castricum, Amsterdam, and even Zanse Schan (I think that was its name), where I've visited a wooden shoe factory (but didn't buy any...:eek:ops:). Quite great!

"Right" away!

Hi,

I've got the starboard nacelle ready, or at lesast I think I did. Support (arm) still missing.
It's a half-decent job, so bear with me. Here are the pics.

One down, one to go

Hey,

I have attached the nacelle to the support AND the body. It was a bit of a problem to align the nacelle to what I think is the right position, but here's one tip: when you have it where you want it, glue the upper outer part of the arm (piece #84), and complete by glueing the lower part (piece #87) to the body.
When I say outer part of the arm I mean the set of assembled pieces from #84 to #87 (and, of course, their "bones").
Now I can see how long is the model: 35cm (about 14 in).
BTW, I have laminated the "skeleton" pieces S-30 and S-31, so that they could withstand the weight.
Photos below.

You are really doing a GREAT job on this model. All of the lines are nice and clean. I have not seen any mistakes.
The only thing that I would have done would be to colour the edges of the blue dome on the front of the nacelle to make it blend to gether better.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

I would really like to see you do a Thunder Fighter from Buck Roger in the 25th Century.
If you are interested in making that model, you can find it here:

Wow she's being assembled !!!

What a great ship, AND a great build Rogerio.
You're realy pulling it off with this one, she's becoming marvelous.

I agree with Rhaven though, color the edges on the nacelles and it will hard to tell it's paper !!

Great build :thumb:

Cheers,
Elko

Rhaven (Mentor) and ShadowHawk (good buddy Elko)

Gentlemen, I couldn't agree more. I intend to do edge coloring when I finish it up. Maybe I should have colored the edges of the warp engine before glueing it to the nacelle, but didn't want to (mainly because of the fitting problem I've had). Now, just for a matter of (stupidity :cry:and) coherence, I'll leave to the end.
I'm taking a small break to diminsh my anxiety in building it, so that I don't screw up. I've come this far, and I don't want to do it all over again (Please remeber this is my SECOND building attempt). So, I'm doing some self-teaching in Blender, because I want not only to build, but also design models.

Mentor, I do accept your suggestion. Thunderfighter it will be, but I have to keep my "pre-stablished order" (you know how the military mind works...), and build it after I finish Ron's beautiful TOS Enterprise, to pair with this one.

Rogério

P.S. Since I've seen your work and also LOENF'S on the Thunderfighter, The series theme doesn't leave my mind. I just loved it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TUDPPZCk58
Sorry, couldn't make the little screen thing work...:curse:

Well, take your time. This is nothing more then a hobby and should always be treated as such.
With that being said though, I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work!!!
