Did it work? Do it again!

Since the lesson from the first "skeleton" was learned, then I did it again: laminated the "S" pieces to its scrap paper, so that they get stiffer. Next post will show the assembled "bones".
Here's the pic. I know it looks messy, but do we really need a squeaky clean skeleton to go inside the model and never be shown? Well, I know I don't.

What???

I didn't think the P.S. on my last post was clear enough, due to my poor English. Anyhow, I think a picture is worth a thousand word, so here it goes.
The pic shows the metal ruler tangent to what I called "fitting opening", and the tweezers on the other side of it, showing its extension. I guess maybe that's clear enough now. Sorry!:eek:ops::eek:ops:

Bones

As promised, here are the pics of the assembled "Bones" (pun intended). You'll see that I haven't folded the tabs (remember I said I would use tabs in the inner structures?) yet, but it's no problem.
I'll just try it out on the body and finish for today. Thanks for following!

Body

Hi,

I have assembled the back part of the body and the middle (I call the defelctor part the front). It was not so good, specially because you have to keep the skeleton on the back part, but NOT in the middle part. This isn't shown in the instructions, but in UHU02's site.
But I think the problems due to joining the body parts will be hidden by the nacelles's support structures. We'll see. It's still a go, and here's the pic.

Body heat

I finally assembled the body. It isn't quite the work I wanted, but I have to consider all that's against me, including my lack of experience. I think that there's still salvation, just like in my Iron Man thread, because there are pieces that might hide the imperfections. We'll see.
Here are the pics. One little thing: you'll be able to know how far the bones go into the middle part of the body by aligning the skeleton rings with the seams between the pieces. Easy as that.
Pics!

It's still looking very good Rogerio.
As more parts are assembled the more exciting it becomes because you see the final shape coming into view.
I think your parts look fantastic, no doubt this isn't one of the easiest models and I don't think your work looks noobish at all.

I'm still working on the wanderer, without any instructions at all
Maybe not the smartest thing to do as a beginner but I think I'll manage, it's not such a big model, I mean not so many parts.

Keep on going Rogerio, your posts serve as a great tutorial !!

You are really doing a PHENAMINAL job on this project. I am impressed with the amout of care, effort, energy, time and work that you are putting into this model.
The work that you are showing in the photos that you are posting is not that of a FNG. It looks like you have bee modeling for quite a while.

Keep going and keep up the GREAT WORK!!!

I am always impressed with individuals skill with smaller scale models. This scale would drive me to the funny farm. A good solid looking Enterprise.

Gee, guys...

Phenomenal build so far Rogerio, following your progress with interest. :)
Thunderchild, coming from you, this really makes me speachless. I've seen your models, they're great! My kid is very interested in Mass Effect, although we don't have the game. YET!

Mentor, I humbly disagree. The work I'm showing is far from what I think is adequate, although within tolerance.
I take your work as reference, and a few others', but I think that I'm getting better by the day, and I intend to soon get close to you guys, and maybe leave the "little league".
With your encouragement and guidance (remember the "NO TABS"?), I'll get there pretty soon, even sooner than I thought.
So many thanks, Mentor, and please keep on guiding me. I DO appreciate it.

Thanks a lot, F131! This model doesn't drive me to the nuthouse because it has already driven me nuts to get it assembled! It's UHU02:inw:, man! AND it's STAR TREK!!!bounce7

To all of you reading this thread, I intend to learn to play with Blender and start modeling. I don't know how long this is gonna take, but I predict that, if everything goes well, in about a year I will release a model. I think it'll be the almost unknown Grozier X.
Why Grozier X? Because it was a great success in Brazil (and I think nowhere else, nor even Japan, where it was created), although its name was "O Pirata do Espaço" (The Space Pirate).
Thanks for everything! Thank you, ZEALOT-ians, for making me part of something really special!

Pain in the neck

YO!

I have started the neck, and without tabs, boy, was it hard! But with a huge ammount of patience, I did it. Partially, of course. Here are the pics.
The first pic shows five pieces together. These were the most difficult, but... (cat's meow) it helps A LOT if you pre-shape it, specially on the "beak", or the part where you'll glue the front photon torpedo launcher. That would be in the middle of each piece.
The second pic shows the front photon torpedo launcher itself. Helps to pre-shape the long part in the middle, and glue the curved parts one at a time. Pretty obviuos, I know.
The third pic shows the neck and the photon torpedo launcher already glued.
And finally, the fourth pic shows everything together, ready to be glued to the saucer and neck "bones".

I am thinking this model will have to move up a few slots on my que. Your work is very inspiring. Now I just have to get my sausage fingers working...

Sausage fingers, micah? Really? Your work proves the opposite!:thumb: YOUR work is inspiring!
Yeah...WAY to small :)
but it looks great!
Dnalor,
I know you like your models big, and your work is absolutely amazing, but I'm just a builder, and a not so talented one. And your larger models allow you to detail them even more, so they look so realistic, that it seems you have invented a shrinking ray or something.
THEY ARE SO VERY COOL!!!

I'm having problems to attach the neck to the saucer (or dish, as you wish)... But I think I have figured it out. If it works, I'll detail it, but if it doesn't, well, I'll always have my hairspray at hand!

I'm having some challlenges myself Rogerio with all sorts of tweaks and thingamajigs :)

Maybe a real noob question but........hairspray ?????

I'm sure you will do fine with the disk part, I'm looking forward to see the ship come together.

Cheers and keep using those sticky fingers :)

Hey, ShadowHawk!
I knew someone would end up asking... I thought I had quoted it in this thread already, but if I haven't, then maybe this will clear all of your hairspray doubts: http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173778

BTW: thingamajigs???
